I'll start with securing the room. Which went fairly easily. The hotel requires that the first night be paid in full. Which was done using a debit card. The funds were withdrawn from my account, all seemed well. Then we arrived and checked in. During check in I was informed that because my husband was not with me to put the remaining balance on his credit (debit) card I had to pay cash for both nights. This includes the night already paid for. I was assured that the money would be refunded to my account. I have yet to see this. Then as I was walking with my children to the car to take our luggage to the room, I was approached by an employee asking me to teach my kids how to walk up the stairs. He was refering to the wrestling team my son is a member of, and they were staying at the same hotel, but were not under my supervision. He did appoligize the next day. Then when we arrived in our room the kitchen does not have an oven but a stove top built into the counter and the refridgerator did not work properly. I am allergic to shellfish and find it difficult to eat out while visiting the beach so it was important for me to be able to cook meals. Our room was not supplied toilet paper, and we were provided with 1 bath towel for 3 guests. This was corrected the next day. Our cammode did not flush. Not a good thing. When I called the front desk to report this I was told "the front desk is closed ok?" and was hung up on before being able to reply. We had to use the restroom in another room. I reported this in person at 8:00 am to a very sleepy young woman. She stated no problem she would send a maintenance man up if that was ok with me. Of course I stated that was fine. I returned to the room several times throughout the day and reported that it still had not been fixed. A couple of times the owner (?) yelled to the men that were scraping paint in front of our doorway to fix it. We left for the evening and when we returned it she must have seen us going up the stairs as the maintenance man soon arrived and fixed it. Evidently the previous tennants had used all the toilet paper and all it needed was plunging. The fun doesn't end. There was a spot in the ceiling directly over the cammode that had been patched. The next morning plaster and debri fell on my head while using the restroom. There was now a large hole with water steadily dripping out of it. I don't want to think where the water came from, but I took another shower. Again, we were without use of the restroom. It became almost comical. I will not return again. I'm not sure I'll return to VA Beach again.
