The State Plaza worked out very well for me. It's furnished comfortably, is well maintained, and has a few extras that make it stand out. There's a full kitchen complete with utensils, and it has a comfy bed with loads of pillows. It's also in a good neighborhood right in the middle of the GW campus (although it's a short hike to get to anything resembling night life unless you're there partying with the students). I got a good rate besides, and the staff was friendly. I'd definitely go back.

Six of us got together for the Memorial Day weekend, renting three rooms. Location is good, near Dupont, National Mall, Adams Morgan, monuments etc. Staff was a little clueless. Parking was a bit of a hassle - it's safe, just a bit of a hassle...
66 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
The room kitchen did not contain everything needed, a microwave, glasses, complete silverware. Otherwise it was a fine hotel. It was within walking distance of attractions and public transportation.
It had outside doors that needed key cards after certain times. There were a deadbolt and a latch lock on the room door.
I am somewhat likely
to return to the State Plaza Hotel.
I might recommend it to friends.

Rooms are very large, staff was acceptible, but the hotel requires a significant remodel. The decor is from the 1960s? Carpets, furniture, and such are very old. I wondered whether I should remove my shoes.
