46 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
As part of a two week vacation to Italy, my husband and I spent three nights in the StarHotels Anderson (Milano, Italy) May 11, 12 and 13. Upon arrival to the hotel my husband opened the front door (approximately 10 feet high glass) and the door completely shattered on my husband leaving him with approximately 10 cuts on his arm and 10 on his leg (I am attaching photos). The staff phoned for an ambulance (only after phoning a CAB which refused to let us ride) which took us and a staff member to the hospital. My husband was treated and released after spending the entire afternoon in he hospital; however, he will have permanent scarring. We asked to speak with the manager a couple of times and have since sent several emails to the hotel and have received NO resolve. We were not even given a meal or reimbursement for the damaged clothes....simply disgusting.
We are very upset that this occurred. We spent over $8,000 on our two week trip which took us months to save and plan for (including over $800 for room, food etc at the StarHotels Anderson). In fact, following the accident my husband was too sore to walk very far, so we ate dinner in the restaurant at the StarHotels Anderson, and we had to pay for it ourselves - the staff seemed to have little regard for our situation. My husband spent the last week of our vacation with the middle finger on his left hand wrapped up - which caused us to change our plans for the remainder of our trip through Italy, and the cuts on his arm and leg caused us to limit walking - which is difficult to do when on vacation in Italy. Additionally, his shirt was ripped and his shorts and sandals were ruined with blood stains.
I was forced to change the hotel after only 2 days because it was very noisy, the rooms are not well isolated and you can also hear the subway which passes under the hotel. The rooms are very small (I had a double bed one) and the pakistani...

Starhotels Splendido it's by far the first hotel to avoid when you're in Milan.
The first memory I'll have of this hotel is that I had my digital camera stolen, obviously by some of the hotel staff, since I didn't have any guests and the room was always locked. I filled a complaint with the local police but with no hope to get something recovered.
I've contacted my company to try to do the check-out earlier than predicted as I don't feel safe here anymore. I'm not comfortable with the idea that they spent almost 20 000 euro for me and my colleague accommodation (almost 3 months here, it really was a hell) and I've gotten robbed.
Other weak points: The rooms are very small (I think the ad photos from their site were taken at another hotel) and noisy (the subway is just under the hotel + the rooms are not well isolated). Some of the front desk personnel is not helpful at all, who couldn't solve any of my problems during his shift, but they got solved in a minute the next shift).
Another thing: The staff's behavior is mostly determined by the country you come from (so if you're a western man/lady you're lucky).
A few good points: Its in a good location and they have a very good breakfast.
The standards are far from a four star hotel. I would hardly give 3 stars to this hotel, so run when you see it!

Excellent
Location could not have been better. 100 yards from central train station that took me to Como and Lugano.Only negative is that the room was very small. Certainly smaller than most American hotel rooms.“Only negative was the small room. Otherwise...
Not super-luxury, but excellent value for the price, well maintained, friendly staff. Easy one block walk from Milano Centrale train station, close to major tourist sites.

Good
“The hotel splendid was very clean and easy to find from the train station. It is on the same side as the buses that come from the airport. The hotel staff were very efficient and the breakfast was nice. I would stay here again...
