LOVE THE OCEAN FRONT VIEWS , FULL FRIDGE. MICRO COFFEE MAKER. MARLINS BREAKFAST A PLUS. THE POOLS, PLENTY FOR ALL. IN ROOM SAFE. THE RELAXED ATMOSPHERE, NOT ALL THE HUSTLE AND BUSTLE OF UPTOWN, WALK BEACHES AT NIGHT. PIER TO FISH OR RELAX ON. STAYED LAST YEAR AT LIVE OAKS THOUGHT IT WAS NICE. STAYED THIS YEAR AT PALMETTO . WAS EVEN NICER. THE ONLY PROBLEM WE HAD WAS ONE DAY THE MAID LEFT OUR HOTEL DOOR OPEN , NOTHING WAS TAKEN AND NEVER HAPPENED AGAIN AFTER THAT.EVEN WITH THAT HAPPENING WOULD STILL RECOMMEND OTHERS. WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES, GROUNDS WERE KEPT CLEAN, CAN RENT CHAIRS AND UMBRELLA , HAS LAUNDRY RIGHT PAST THE OFFICE AND PUTT PUTT FOR KIDS,HAS PARKING DECK. HAD 18 YEAR OLD AND 13 YEAR OLDS BOTH HAD A WONDERFUL TIME.

48 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

My family of four has stayed at Springmaid for the past 5 years. We have had a pleasant experience in the past however this year when we stayed we did not. We stayed Tuesday July 1st and we were planning on leaving on Friday, July 4th. Everything went well until Thursday July 3rd. We left our room around 2:00 and returned about 10:30 that evening. When we returned we quickly realized that we had new neighbors next room that rented the hospitality suite room 517 of the Palmetto. At 10:30 at night they were having a party! I do not know when this started since we had been out of the room since 2:00 that afternoon. There were about 10 kids on the balcony of room 517 and it sounded like about 25 in the room. I waited a few minutes and then called the hotel desk to ask what could be done about the loud music and boom, boom, boom coming through the wall. They said that quiet time was at 11:00 and if it was not quiet then to call back. Well of course is was not quiet then, this party was going full blast! I called back around 11:05 and was told that other people were complaining also and that the manager was not in the office but was on the premises. I told them that he was probably in room 517. They said he would call me back. I waited until 11:30 and still no response. My husband and I decided since we were going to leave at 9:00 the next morning anyway we would just leave now since we were definitely not going to get any sleep in that room. So we proceeded to pack our things and take them down the elevator to the parking garage. While we were taking our luggage to the car, there were a lot of drunk people coming from that room getting on the elevator. We drove to the office to check out. When we got to the office and informed them we were leaving, the manager was there and said he was just trying to call me. He said the room was being vacated at that time and told us we could stay. I told the manager that we had already packed and had decided to leave since we had no idea when it would have been quiet enough to sleep. I requested a partial refund but he said he did not have authorization to do that. We drove home and arrived home at 4:00 in the morning without any sleep. I did call Springmaid several days later and talked to a Angela who works there. I again requested a partial refund of the price of the room for the last night. She talked to the manager John Willaims and then told me they would refund me $28.00 because we did not use our breakfast coupons. As of this date we still have not received a refund.

I had always enjoyed our trips to Springmaid however I believe they are now catering to family reunions and such that like to party. If we wanted to stay near partying people we would have stayed downtown. I had always thought this resort was like a Christian resort however the office informed me it was not. My family does not drink and we do not want to be around drinking and partying. We wanted to stay in a resort with a family friendly atmosphere however this was not it. They are catering to families for family reunions however some of the family reunions are party reunions with drinking and loud music and this is not what we wanted. We will not stay there anymore.

The hotel is in desperate need of renovation. Rust in/on the refrigerator, steel door had hole in the corner of it (large enough for a mouse to get through). Dirty bathroom, threadbare sheets. No internet access from room. Elevator only worked 10% of the time. After finding the stairs exit, it was found to be locked. It was opened later in the day, however, we found it locked the following 2 mornings. I will not return nor will I recommend this hotel to anyone.

I was looking for an inexpensive weekend trip to the beach. The rates were great but I was afraid of what I might find, as I am a "princess in a pea" kind of gal. My husband and I were in the Cypress Building - beware that there are no elevators and we were on the top (3rd) floor. Old building with worn outside feeling. Yes, the door was steel, but who sits and looks at the outside door? The room was clean and the bed was comfortable but not a heavenly bed, like Hampton or Sheraton, with all of the multiple pillows and cozy, down comforter. The balcony was nice with a view of the oceanside pool and the pier and ocean. Small room but my husband and I stay outside all day and just need a clean place to shower and sleep. The bathtub was old but the walls and floor were redone with nice tile. I'd stay again, as the weekday rate was 65.00 and the weekend was 80.00. All in all a pleasant surprise.
