We recently stayed in Eureka Springs for a wedding. My niece was getting married at Thorncrown Chapel, what an amazing structure! We stayed two nights at Sleepy Hollow Inn, and even though we have stayed in Eureka Springs numerous times, that has now become our favorite lodging. It is an adorable Victorian cottage located on Main Street. So much is included for such a reasonable price.
The cottage can sleep up to 6 people and you have your own front yard which is visited frequently by deer. Amazing baked goods are delivered to your kitchen and snacks and drinks too. The decor is remarkable, so much beauty and creativity went into the design of each room. My three kids loved the place, and that includes two teenage boys. The owners of this establishment are warm and friendly. My brother and his family, who also stayed for the wedding, paid around the same price at a chain hotel, no breakfast, no front porch w/ swing, no private yard, no charm, and two miles from downtown. We were able to walk out our front porch, through the yard, to the sidewalk and away we go visiting all the unique shops, bars, and restaurants. We will be back!
As far as the city of Eureka Springs, it is remarkable. The winding streets, Victorian homes and Inns, some built into or on cliffs, and natural springs are only a few things that makes this town so charming. There are so many great places to stay and plenty of very good restaurants. There is so much history and so many activities going on for a small town. It accompanies every walk of life, very diverse. This unique town welcomes anyone and everyone. They are very friendly people. My teenage boys never meet a stranger, I am sure they made several friends during our last stay.
My new favorite shop is Mountain Eclectic, they have amazing items in that wonderful store complete with an indoor natural spring! It is located on North Main Street. We also loved an art gallery called Harris' Art Garden and Gallery which includes a creative outdoor park that showcases the artist raw talent - and we adored their lovable pet "Buck". The gallery is also located on North Main Street.
My ten year old daughter fell in love with a raccoon drawing by the artist Susan Morrison who has an art gallery downtown. She spent her last bit of money to buy a print. Susan was there and personally autographed the print, she was so honored that my daughter would spend the rest of her money on one of her drawings.
Every time we visit Eureka we meet new friends, we have new experiences, and we can't wait to come back. Oh, and the wedding was excellent!
