My wife and I stayed at the Silver Sands in July, 2007 and found it to be well kept, clean and ideally situated. The Motel is family run and the owners are very friendly and work hard at maintaining their fine reputation. The furnishings are old but in excellent condition. We especially appreciated the breakfast tray and refrigerator in our room. We will be returning this July based upon our very positive experience.

We stay here the Thursday/Friday of Memorial Day Weekend. The hotel furniture and fixtures are from the 1950's but the hotel is spotless. Refrigator and microwave in every room. Breakfast tray in every room with milk juices etc in refrigator. The small boardwalk has breathtaking viewa of the Harbor and the Shelter Island ferry. The beach is private and clean. The pool was ready to open the next day. We had a great time the staff was helpful and friendly.
