50 year old with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
The room was fairly standard and the price was too high for the accomadations. Hotel is right on the edge of a great area of town to be in and we walked down to the restaurants / shops right down the street. Hotel was on a busy street (kind of noisy) with a view of an industrial complex. Ask for the parking lot side if you stay here.

pros: Customer Service, King Rooms, Group RatesI was very excited about the group rate that Rebecca in sales was able to offer the out-of-town guests attending my wedding. Not many of them were coming, and a lot of them were unconfirmed, but she...

Excellent
My wife and I have stayed at the Silver Cloud twice, and found it to be an excellent hotel. It is right next to 23rd Street shops and restaurants, and convenient to everywhere. Parking is free and convenient, unlike downtown hotels. Beds are...

The Silver Cloud Inn was very comfortable and the security features at the doors made me feel safe. I liked the convenient location to restaurants and downtown Portland and the easy access to the freeway to get everywhere else. I would definitely recommend this hotel and plan on staying there again.
The service that the staff provides in serving the beautiful breakfast and furnishing directions to locations makes you feel special. They are there to serve your needs and it shows.
I am very likely
to return to the Silver Cloud Inn Portland Downtown.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

Okay
My girlfriend and I stayed here as a result of a mixup at the Inn @ Northrup Station. The location wasn't as nice as our first choice, but the rooms seemed quite spacious, clean and well-appointed. Unfortunately, the walls were cardboard-thin, so...
30 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for business
I had the opportunity to stay here three times over the past year (April 2005-October 2005) for job training I was doing in Portland.
This hotel was very well suited for my extended stays (each visit was 2+ weeks). The rooms seemed to all be nonsmoking, but they do allow smoking outside. They have adequate parking, but not if you have a large vehicle like SUV or minivan. If your car/truck is large, you have to park on the main level of the garage, which fills up quickly. The ceiling is too low for larger vehicles to go above or below for parking.
The rooms were well equipped with a fridge, microwave, iron, hair dryer, coffeemaker. Some rooms have larger fridges than others, so if you need a larger fridge, ask beforehand. The room that I was upgraded to with the larger fridge was a double-queen room, which was also nice because of the extra room.
There is free high-speed Internet and a variety of channels. There is also a computer you can use downstairs if you don't have a laptop.
The hotel is in a nice part of town, just down the street from the Alphabet Neighborhood. I actually liked this part of town, and there were several restaurants and clubs and bars within a 10-minute walk or so. Also, Fred Meyer (grocery store) is just up the street, as is the zoo and Japanese gardens.
Staff was friendly and helpful. Great breakfast buffet every morning including pancakes and waffles (you make them in little makers they have there), 2 types of cereal, milk, juice, fruit, and tons of pastries and such.

It's a very nice hotel in a decent part of town. But it had limited parking for SUV's/large vehicles. The rooms were nice, but the neighbors were sometimes noisy.
