Mediocre
I would not stay at this hotel again. The bathrooms are dirty with stained wash cloths. The equiptment is poorly maintained. The hot tub was luke warm, when I told the front desk the only response was 'we've been having problems with it', no...

I was happy about the bed it was the most comfortable one I have ever slept in. The front desk was a lot to be desired. At check-in I was told that they had to have an authorization for the credit card that was used (a friend used theirs) so he had to have mine to book the room (my friend was not told that on the phone) so I said DO NOT CHARGE MY CARD he said he wouldn't, but he turned around not 2 minutes later and charged my card anyway, and said he was sorry and said he did a reversal. It has been 8 days and I still have not received my money back. I AM NOT VERY HAPPY!!!

Good
We were here 3 nights. Large rooms. You get free breakfast in their restaurant. THE BEST food! Lots of "potty places" for our 2 little dogs, and the kids loved the hot tub. Close to Zoo, Forestry Center. Check out Powell's bookstore in Beaverton!...

The hotel is in good shape for its age. It has a beautiful courtyard garden which the rooms surround with nice decks. They have good sized and clean rooms.
I am somewhat likely
to return to the Shilo Inn Hotel & Suites - Portland/Beaverton.
I might recommend it to friends.

Driving up to the hotel I kept thinking that this couldn't be it. It reminded me of a run down hotel surrounded by car dealerships. It didn't look like the pictures on the internet, could be because they took a picture of the gazebo trying to make it look warm and inviting, and they had me fooled.
We checked in and there werent any elevators (just in case you need one) and given the floor layout of the building you see why, but this makes it hard to lug up your bags and cooler (since they have bottled water for $1.50 each).
We got to the top of the stairs and immediately we found a foul smelling odor. We were not sure if it is from the old tray of food that sat a the top of the stairs, or the combined odor of pet and smoke.
The room was dingy and the bathroom was dirty with rust stains on the floor. Be cautioned, if you flush the toilet, everyone within a mile radius will know you had just relieved yourself, the toilet is that loud. Im not sure how they dubbed this the executive suite, I wouldn't want any of my execs sleeping in that room unless I totally disliked them. The room we stayed in backs up to a small road, Im not sure what view we were paying for.
This caused a lot of noise at all hours of the night. Every time some people walked by talking and carrying on, it sounded like they were right in your room. Also, we weren't right on the freeway but, every time a car drove by it sounded like they were going through the middle of your room. Im not sure if it is the older windows or what, I double checked to make sure the windows weren't open. The beds were hard as rocks, too. If you are looking for a restful and clean place to stay, I would look elsewhere. The only advantage was that it was close to the zoo.
For the price I would have added a couple more bucks to find a better hotel.
