About 20 years ago, I'd stayed at the Sheraton Universal and, because of business, opted to stay there again. After reading some reviews, I was dreading the worst.
I was put up in one of the "Lanai Rooms" around the...
35 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
Single mom with 3 sons, traveling to California for the first time. I choose to stay at the Sheraton because it was close to Universal Studios. The Hotel was clean, well kept, and had nice comfortable rooms (we all enjoyed the sweet sleeper beds!) The pool was nice and the workout room, the staff was freiendly and most important to me, I felt very safe there. I would recommend this hotel to my friends. It's in a great central location to visit many attractions.
The only things I didn't like about the hotel was having to pay $16 a night to park my car in their garage. Also, the hotel needs a snack/coffee bar because the only place to get something to eat at the hotel is at its high priced restaurant.

This hotel is in a state of total disrepair. General maintenance items are not being kept up with. General cleaning is not being done. It is dusty, dirty, smelly, understaffed and/or staffed with new employees who are not trained well enough to be on their own yet (translation: LONG line at the Front Desk). It has gone WAY downhill since last time I stayed here and it appears to be continuing to decline at a steady pace. Seems like the management/owners of this property are letting it go. We paid for an "upgraded" lanai room overlooking the pool. There were cigarette butts all over the balcony floor, carpet was visibly stained, knobs were missing off the armoire, dusty, dirty, missing furniture in the room, etc. Went to the restaurant to get coffee in the morning and it was "serve yourself but wait in line to pay the cashier". Coffee in urn was cold. We had to wait while the cashier went to the back to get us hot coffee. They left the cold coffee in the urn, however, for others to continue to use. We only stayed one night of our 2 night reservation because it was so bad. We paid for 2 nights, btw.

Horrible
The Front Desk Manager was wonderful.Front desk, old rooms, old facilities.“We had a terrible experience. Rooms are not ready when you arrive, facilities are old, front desk has a very 'take it or leave it' attitude, many things don't work in the...

I use the hotel for business reasons but I have been impressed with the quality of the services and the knowledge of the staff. They always make my stay as comfortable as possible. They consistently exceed basic amenities and provide a wonderful experience.
I am very likely
to return to the Sheraton Universal Hotel.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.
