female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure
My daughter and I stayed for 5 days at the Sheraton NY - we received a very warm welcome, our room on 42nd floor was clean, beds very comfortable and housekeeping staff attended everyday. This is an excellent location for sight seeing and shopping, would highly recommend and we will definately stay here again. All the staff were very helpful and the beds were the best I had ever slept in away from home.

The lobby and service are very nice, but the room was so full of mildew. It smelled like mildew. Even the air was sticky. I was so tired I just fell asleep. Then, insult to injury, the next morning i ironed a light blue silk blouse and draped it over a chair and when it brushed up against the desk, it had been so sticky in the room that the STAIN ON THE DESK STARTED TO COME off and it got on my shirt - BROWN WOOD STAIN - RUINED MY SHIRT. I went downstairs and explained what happened and they were apologetic and gave me 7000 points on my Starwood cards which is the equivalent of "1/2 a room". Obviously I am still bitter.
This was the worst hotel stay I have ever had, and I am certainly disappointed given the standard of Sheraton hotels that I have come to expect as a frequent traveler. I arrived in mu room to be greeted by the smell of smoke in this "smoke free" hot

Good
The room was fine. Nothing fancy, apart from the cool motorized window shade. The room had a pretty spectacular view down Seventh Avenue towards Times Square.

What a BAD experience in a 4-star hotel. They have to be stripped of at least 1 star. I always stay at 4- or 5-star hotel, since 4-star hotel can feel like 5-stars or 3-stars. This was supposed to be a romantic Valentine getaway. I was coming by car....
