This place is horrible. On a whim, I put in a ridiculously low, although not low enough for this terrible hotel, bid on Priceline (I think around $75.00) and it was accepted. After reading the reviews of this hotel on Tripadvisor.com I almost booked another hotel, but since it was New Year’s Eve weekend everything was either booked or much higher than usual. I also figured we wouldn't be in the hotel very much, which was the case, but when we were there, we were all miserable. The staff was horrible. The person in the room above us roamed around his or her room all night long. No one could sleep because of the constant shuffling of feet, and what sounded like the moving of all the furniture and perhaps moving dead bodies all around the room, all night. First, we called the front desk, they didn't do anything. Eventually we had to get up four times from around 2 am to 4 am to beg them to silence the person above us. Nothing ever happened. It continued throughout the three nights we were there, and when we'd come back during the day to drop stuff off, shower, etc. it was still happening.
The hotel is so far out of the way. Since the public transportation doesn't run all night, you have to find a cab. No cab at 3 am on New Years Eve or day would take us back there. We ended up having to walk in the rain back from near the Castro neighborhood.
The restaurant was slow and gross. We had to waste about 1 1/2 hours before going to the airport to head home, so instead of lugging our luggage to a nice part of town, we sat down for dinner at the hotel restaurant. That was a big mistake. I waited for 20 minutes as I watched the two waiters deal with other guests. Finally, my friend met me there and waited about 10 minutes. Finally, we had to ask for service, and the food was wrong once we got it.
Oh, and it was under construction, so it was filthy.
I'm not one to go on and on in a public forum about the quality of a hotel, but people need to know the following:
1. Never stay here
2. Never book with Priceline. I had never done it before and I'm usually very picky about hotels so it was a mistake on so many levels.
