This is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at, and I am not a particularly picky or demanding guest. In fact, I've stayed at about two hotels per month for my job for the past three years, and this is the first time I've felt compelled to write a negative review.
As soon as i walked into the lobby, wait let me back up... first, I could barely make my way through the lobby due to massive construction overhaul. Seriously, like bright orange safety warning cones everywhere. I wouldn't have been surprised if they had handed me a hardhat and a construction truck was sitting in the lobby.
OK, well once I made my way through that disaster zone (which I was not made aware of when I booked the room), I checked into my room. I go to check out the bathroom in my room, and i see a gross, long (NOTICEABLE) hair on the floor and an extremely dingy bathtub. As far as the rest of the room goes, the TV was from the 1800s. The furniture was all kinds of beat up.
I am so depressed by the state of my room, that i decide to get out of there and go for a workout. I call the front desk to ask them where the fitness center is. Oh gee SURPRISE there is no fitness center due to the massive reconstruction of the entire hotel!!! (Of course I was never notified of this, either!) Well being that I was booked there all week long, and I would like to maintain some regularity in my exercise routine, I asked the front desk where the nearest facilities I could find were. I was told that I could WALK to captain cook hotel (like 10 blocks away!) and use theirs. At this point, I asked to speak to a manager. When the manager picked up, I asked for some sort of compensation. I mean this is really ridiculous. She said they would "compensate" me by getting me a hotel shuttle to go to captain cook hotel. Gee. Great.
The following morning I attempted to get room service. Room service for the regular breakfast menu is SUPPOSED to start at 6am, according to the menu. So, I start calling at 5:45 am. And call. And call. And call. For FORTY-FIVE MINUTES. I even leave messages. At 6:45, someone finally calls me back. Does not even acknowledge that nobody has bothered to pick up the phone for the past hour and that it is ridiculously late. I place my simple order (scrambled eggs and an english muffin). The guy on the other end says he will be there within 25 minutes. So I wait. And wait. And wait. Forty-five minutes later, tummy rumbling.. I decide I won't have time to eat because I have to go to work!! So I call to cancel my room service order. Surprise, nobody picks up. So I have to then call the front desk to somehow give room service the message that I am no longer interested in my order. I go to work starving.
I checked out of that horrific hotel that same day, 5 days earlier than I was supposed to. I moved down a few blocks into the Hilton for the same rate. MUCH happier here.
Do not go to the Sheraton if you value basic things, such as food, exercise, and cleanliness!!!!
