Location was perfect for both privacy as well as proximity to attractions. We were able to hear people moving around in neighboring rooms very easily. The Shem Creek Inn was a very accommodating hotel with very nice guest rooms and a great location...

Our room was billed as overlooking a Salt Marsh. The actual view was of four parking lots, large garbage dumpsters and power lines. The staff made a promise to move us to a creek side view that would be ''much less''. When it came time to move to our ''much less room'', we were told it would be thirty dollars more per night.
We asked that the manager call us, she never did. The room was filthy, full of mold and the bedding had fecal matter on the ''clean'' sheets.
During our stay, a large group of power boaters stayed at the Inn. We were treated to yelling and slamming doors the entire stay, fights in the parking lot, grown men drunk and passed out in the hallways and a staff that seemed disinterested in our satisfaction as guests.
We later found out from a couple different business's in town that the place has sold several rooms as condo's....a little misleading since it mentions nothing about this on the website which is where I booked our terrible room. Upon checking out to find a much more suitable place to stay for our family, (Patriot's Point Best Western A+++), I was over charged for the two horrible nights we stayed at the Shem Creek Inn.
Sorry, no dolphin sightings for us, just a constant party and noise!
Chamber of Commerce is our next letter.
Stay away is my suggestion. Nice view from the bridge though!

Loved the location. Views of Shem Creek from the balcony or from the pool are amazing. The dolphins playing really added to the vacation for all of us but especially my daughter.
Got to know the Manager a bit as she was the one that told us to bring our daughter over to the edge of the railing to view the dolphins. She was taking a short break and still took the time to let guests know that the dolphins were there.
Very friendly people in a very comfortable location. We'll definately be back.
