The location of the hotel is nice. Beach is private and it is located at the end of the street, therefore there is not a large amount of traffic in the area. The hotel was quiet and the room was relatively clean. The staff was not extremely friendly. Overall, the price is high. From my experience of visiting several beaches, there is much nicer places to stay for that kind of money.
I wait all year to go to Shell Island...to get away from the hussle and bussle of the city....I do not need to go out of the country to experinece blue water...breathless sunsets...endless beaches...the beach is comparable to beaches I have visited...
A wonderful getaway for 2 or a family

Excellent
The hotel was nice and clean. Our king size bedroom was very large with 2 full bathrooms, witch was really great. The view was out standing. The location was perfect. We will stay here again.

This is the hotel that was expected to fall into the ocean 5 years ago. Since the government pumped sand and restored the inlet, the hotel has gone from a dive to a place that is trying to make a come back. They have sold off most of the condos but there is a front desk that runs the place like a hotel. This used to be my favorite place to stay and I have stayed there about 12 times since living in Raleigh. Unfortunately, they have decided to raise their rates too high for what they offer and it is a better idea to stay down the beach at the Sunspree. Until they drop their rates, I will be staying elsewhere.
