Shawmut Inn

I liked the hotel proximity to the center of commercial Boston, Quincy market & the Italian quarter.

However, on my first night there I heard shouted death threats in the street outside the hotel - nice. I was none to impressed with the immediate surrounds of the hotel - lots of homeless, posters recommending rehab centers, lots of rubbish on the streets.

I could have lived with that though - if my room was anyway reasonable. The room I had was noisy as it was right by the breakfast / snack room & incredibly had no window to speak of (it had a window that looked out onto a wall).

Do not stay here if you can avoid it - there are much better hotels for the same price in Boston.

We enjoyed our stay in a very clean and well decorated room at the Shawmut Inn. I was a bit hesitant with the area it was located in, but when I got into the lobby, the staff was wonderful, the room excellent and the breakfast very nice. Lots of families with kids were there too as well as elderly tourists. The price is great and so was everything else. Watch out for the parking rates at Government Center Parking though.

It was a very large room for the price. It included breakfast and it was next to Boston's Italian section, close to Freedom Trail and next to the subway. I got a large and comfortable room for the price. Parking was not included. The wireless internet connection was having a little problem connecting at the Shawmut while we were there.

This hotel made me feel comfortable: The hotel had a courteous staff. They served complimentary breakfast. The room included a refrigerator, a microwave and a coffee maker.
