VERY dirty.
Incompentent staff.
Loud neighbors, thin walls...people next door to us were smoking POT in the non-smoking room next to ours which wafted under the adjoining door to our room.
Exterior was worn, cracked, and moldy... I was glad to return home from this vacation!

We have stayed here for the past 4 yrs and every year we have stayed in a different room (our choice)!! Last year we stayed in the 3bedroom Sandlapper. We will stay in this room again this year. We are a family of 4 with a 7 yr old and a 6 yr old. The kids love it--there is so much for them to do from the kiddie pool on site (awesome) to the shows in the afternoon. The staff is wonderful and very helpful. The room we stayed in last year was great if you have people coming down during the week. It has 3 bedrooms with 2 double in 2 rooms and 1 king in the other. It is across the street form the ocean and away from traffic. The kids loved all of the green grass to run and play on and like I said we did not have to worry about traffic. The price is right also if you want alot to do for the money. You really don't have to leave. If you have not stayed here give it a try. But if you don't--don't worry we will take your turn down the 3 story slide!!
I really liked the full size appliances although we did not have to use them. The rooms were not clean and you could actually see mold on some spots. I was glad I always travel with Lysol spray and believe me it was needed. The balcony offered a spatacular view of the ocean. You are on your own as far as baggage handling. There are plenty of spots for eating and the prices are very reasonable. Except for the cleaning everything else was acceptible.

When I read some of the reviews, the week before my vacation I almost cancelled my trip. I was excepting the worst. However, we stayed at the Driftwood we had a fully equipped kitchen on the 10th floor and it looked just like the picture in the ad. We did the family package where we got the parks included. My kids are 20 and 21 these family packages are intended for the little kids. However, they did have fun at the water park. I think the sea mist is alittle run down but you can see that they are in process of changes. The elevator needs improvement and need more of them. Overall I say it was an OK vacation.

Good
I liked the value package, clean room, nice staff, and all you have to do!The gift shop staff was not so friendly, and no shuttle service anywhere's. This is a great place to stay in if you have kids. The room was clean, the floor was a little...

We made last min. reservations for our family and pet @ Sea Mist hoping to enjoy a relaxing fun beach trip. When we arrived to our room we were disgusted by the appearance outside as well as in. We are currently in our room doing the only thing that is comfortable here...SLEEP! The beds are comfortable and the sheets are clean, but the floors, the walls, the baseboards, the exterior are so stained from very neglectful housekeeping. We are in a room that allows pets so that our baby Boston Terrier can also enjoy a vacation. Maybe the other rooms oceanfront are better, but this room is a dump! Guests traveling with dogs aren't neccesarily animals themselves! Housekeeping is definitely an issue. Our dog is cleaner than some of the human neighbors we have seen lingering around. (which I assume is from the very affordable family packages, so ANYONE can end up here) ICKY!!! Do not stay before you check it out!!! The kids and us are wearing our flip flops inside @ all times, even as soon as we step out of the shower. What's keeping me from going to the front desk and complaining is the short time that we are here, and the headache that follows by listening to excuses. We will continue to shower and sleep and escape to the beach.

Reviews here are pretty much spot-on. we went in expecting a dirty room (it was) and lousy parking (it was) and cheesy amaenities (they were). Even with our lowered expectations, we were dissappointed - 3 Steps Down restaurant (they call it a "Grill and Tavern", but I call it a "dump") should be closed for pretending to be a restaurant. Parking was hysterically bad, but not fatal. The mini-golf we got for free? well, there was a reason it was free. The water park on the corner of Ocean and 13th was OK at best - not enough seats and busy, but very good staff and it was pretty clean. The hotel room was gritty.
Sea mist was pretty okay. You had a varity of pools 1 water park. I guess you can stay and fun but you can find something even better than sea mist. The maid service was ecellent she did not keep bugging you so she can finish she would wait and go to the next room. This was a hotel so large but only 2 Elevators. Its okay

The location on the beach is good but in hotel looked liked one from the 60's or 70's with minor (and cheap) remodeling. The puchase of the nearby properties without proper landscaping created a maze of walls and fences to the point you almost didn't know where you belonged and where you didn't. The parking was terrible. The 3 Steps Down restaurant was fair at best. But definitely NOT run by restaurant professionals.
The rooms were clean, but some of the towels that we were given showed old stains from who knows what.
Cheap blonde laminate flooring in the room hid the light colored sand thats everywhere (including the pools). Your bare feet never feel clean even in your room. Sand never seemed to be cleaned away and uneven sidewalks create puddles of water that are green with algae.
The constant wind blew every scrap of garbage tossed by non caring guests into the pool which reeked of way too much chlorine. Speaking of guests, the reasonable rates makes for guests you may not want to have as neighbors - nuff said.
The beach front was clean but the cost of renting the chairs and umbrellas was ubsurd!
My feeling was the Sea Mist owners bit off too much by buying up all the hotels, and the cheap fixes make for an uneasy stay.
The best part of the hotel that it's a short drive to Broadway at the Beach. You can do better...
I am not likely
to return to the Sea Mist Resort Myrtle Beach.
I would not recommend it to friends.
