50 year old with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure
The young girl at the desk at night was just plain rude, and made it clear that she did not want to be bothered. Murphy beds are uncomfortable. Supposed to be non smoking but people smoke on the balconies, so the ocean breeze coming into your room smells like cigarettes. Place appears to have been built in the 60's and could use some upgrades. Not enough parking when hotel is full, so we had to park around the block on the street. 3 stories, no elevator, not handicapped friendly. There are other hotels in Pismo with ocean front rooms, and much friendlier staff.
I am not likely
to return to the Sea Gypsy Motel.
I would not recommend it to friends.
First off it's one short set of steps from the beach. The property is clean, well maintaned and the staff is friendly and unpretentious like most of PB. Close to downtown and the pier but not too close. Pet lovers this is the place to stay. And...

This place makes me feel like I've just gotten out of a jacuzzi or just had a massage....rooms with balconies right on the beach and you can just lay there and listen to the melodic surf...nothing like it! Most of the rooms have a little kitchen and refrigerator which is really helpful as an alternative to expensive restaurants. The main bed is "Murphy" style,which folds up ito the wall to give you extra space during the day. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Pismo Beach if I had the choice! They welcome your pets and there is even a little doggie lawn in front to accomodate them!
