The Sands is an eclectic bunch of rooms facing an extraordinary view of Little harbor, boats at moorings, coast guard boats, ferries sweeping by, a view of the closer Elizabeth Islands, the tip of Martha's Vineyard, etc.
On the tip of the point directly across is a Frank Lloyd Wright Airplane House, a cedar shingled marvel of a mansion. It is walking distance to The Fishmonger Restaurant for corn pancakes at breakfast, The Captain Kidd for Swordfish at lunch, and The Landfall Restaurant for the finest dining inland of Martha's Vineyard. Walk to the ferries.
Note: the beaches all need car beach stickers, but if you want to hoof a mile or so, you can walk to the MBL's beach, where the children are friendly and the IQ averages 165.
Walk to Nobska Lighthouse and smooch in the tall grass on the point under the lighthouse. After dark, across the street from the light, and down over the bank. I've recommended it for forty years now. I've kissed two wives on the hillside. Hopefully their husbands didn't mind.
