member icon Poor treatment by personnel

52 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

We visited the Sands of Kahana for a timeshare presentation. We received uniformly poor treatment from the people who greeted us. When we arrived they asked to see my ID. It did not matter that my wife had her ID, we both needed to have ours. One-half hour later after going to get the ID, they continued to treat us rudely, making us feel like we were thieves. I've never before been treated so poorly by someone trying to sell me something. If this is how they treat potential owners, I can only imagine how they would treat us once we had purchased the property.

I and my family have been coming here almost every year since 2001, the year we discovered it.

Firstly, these units are gigantic and home-like with full kitchens, a dining room, large bedrooms and baths, with BBQs in front of the units. Go to Costco or Walmart and get your needs on the way in and hunker down until its time to explore the island or do activities.

Secondly, it has a great pool with a GREAT restaurant and bar all about 50 yards away from the west facing beach where the whales migrate. If you TIP WELL when you order food and drinks, they'll bring the food and drinks out to you without any question.

Thirdly, and I know this may be a conflict of interest for some, but the Lahaina Ticket Company (because many have bitter feelings about Consolidated) will make out an itinerary for you if you give them a list of things you want to do. LTC, Missy, specifically, does a great job scheduling and getting freebies and getting good deals.

Lastly, IT'S QUIET!!!! It ain't a party place, the adults are cordial, the kids are well behaved, the staff is nice, and you get a week's or month's worth of peace in paradise which is really all we want.

56 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

My wife and I bought our timeshare at Sands of Kahana in 1989 and have been relatively happy with the purchase. (We were disappointed in our original one-bedroom unit, but upgraded to a two-bedroom unit and that solved the problem.)

In September of 2006, we were vacationing at the Sands of Kahana and were persuaded (tricked) into trading our Sands of Kahana ownership for a Tahiti Village ownership. The pivotal point of the deal for my wife and I was that we were promised that we would retain “Ownership Privileges” at the Sands of Kahana resort. (I travel on business to Las Vegas several times a year, and have less than no interest in actually “vacationing” in Las Vegas.) Now that I have tried to exercise those alleged “Ownership Privileges,” I have discovered that there is no such policy and that if I want to vacation on Maui, much less at the Sands of Kahana, I have to get in line along with everyone else.

As I see it now, I have about a 10% chance of actually being able to vacation at the Sands of Kahana, only as long as I am 100% flexible as to the date and type of accommodations, and put in my request at least one year in advance. In the last week or so I have learned the sad truth that the Sands of Kahana resort as it is now will probably cease to exist in the not too distant future. Rather than being honest with me and my wife, Consolidated Resorts tricked us into giving up our rights.

48 year old male with a economy budget, traveling for leisure

The advertised ocean view room was a view to a large tree that when we looked through it when the wind blew, we could get a glance at the beach.

I am not likely to return to the Sands of Kahana.
I might recommend it to friends.

I’m the owner of a time-share, a home resort. They have very clean units and all amenities are in the room and on the grounds. It’s a low-rise building on the beach. It has a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere.

This hotel made me feel practical: It has a home like atmosphere. It has a full kitchen with all the cookware and dishware. It's a home away from home.

I am very likely to return to the Sands of Kahana.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.
