52 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
Have stayed a number of times in the past. It is nicely remodeled in the casino area but the room seemed to be the same as ten years ago and seemed somewhat old and shabby. We were in the tower by the check-in area. The thing I liked the least was it seemed to be the smokiest casino in town. Maybe ventilation hasn't been updated. I know you have to put up with it and not complain when you are a non-smoker but it just seemed to be worse there. We had delicious hot muffins at Mel's Diner. They also have an $11.99 steak cooked-to-order w/small buffet that was pretty good. All in all I would stay at the Fitz (which I usually do any way) and also enjoy the newly remodeled Grand Sierra. (Except the service at Chevy's there is terrible) and probably not go back to the Sand's. Hope this helps.

We knew we were taking a risk when we saw the price for the room on online travel....but were pleasantly surprised at the quality of our hotel room... it was big, clean, updated and had nice 12th floor views.

staff was very friendly and helpful. seemed more genuine than other hotel/casinos. i was in reno for business not gambling so i didn't like the smoke or being forced to go through the casino to get anywhere, but hey, its a casino. the neighborhood...
