In contrast to the visually impressive lobby, the rooms (at least, the one we had) were not. This is somewhat disappointing because it appeared that they had spent quite a bit on making the first and second floor (where the conference rooms are) look stunning. The room was average, in comparison to other hotels in the downtown area, such as the Westin and the Sheraton. (However, the Sandman may be more geared towards people with moderate budgets for travelling, while the other two are more for the high-end traveller.) All the basic amenities are provided, as well as wireless internet. The room was comfortable and clean.
Service was good. They were quick and friendly during my stay.
There was not much of a view, since it was situated in downtown. Aside from office buildings and a small park, there was not much to see from the large window in the room.
The location of the hotel was excellent. The transit system was a stone's throw away from the building, which took me to most places in the city. It was blocks away from shops, restaurants, night spots, and offices - this would be a desirable location for people going to the city for business. Due to its location, however, the area can be somewhat noisy at night.
The restaurant in the building was Moxie's, a mid-priced contemporary dining area that served excellent food there. If you choose to stay in the hotel, dining here is a good option. If not, there are many other dining spots just minutes away from the building.
For the price, it was okay. It was relatively inexpensive for the rooms in comparison to other hotels in the downtown vicinity. However, the quality does somewhat coordinate with its price.
