44 year old woman with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

Staying at Sanctuary was quite a memorable experience. The layout is simple. There is the spa building and the resort building. The resort building houses jade bar, elements restaurant, front desk, and concierge. The casitas, several private homes, tennis courts, and swimming pools dot fifty some odd gorgeous acres on Camelback Mountain. Upon arrival we upgraded to a one bedroom, 1,000 s.f. mountain view casita with patio, and we were not charged for it. We had originally booked a one room mountain view casita without a patio, but after seeing Camelback Mountain so very close, we had to have the one bedroom suite with patio. All guests stay in individual casitas with either a spa view or a mountain view. The valets were easy going and friendly. Guests can be driven hither and yon in Sanctuary golf carts from their casitas to the spa building and the resort building. Parking - valet optional - is directly in front of your casita. The casita had a beautiful yet simple, striking layout and a patio that had a unparelled close up view of Camelback Mountain. The interior design of our casita was exactly as shown on the Sanctuary website. There is something wonderful about enjoying sunrises and sunsets on your very own private patio while gazing at a twelve million year old mountain. We stayed in one of the original one bedrooms originally constructed in the 1950's when Sanctuary was a private tennis and racquet club. Spa service, in room service, housekeeping, jade bar, and elements restaurant were without fault. In room dining was prompt and the food delicious. We had two massages each in the spa. I particulary liked that spa services were not encyclopedic in offering as are so many other spas today. Do expect low key elegance and personal service across the board. Blessedly, cell phones are not allowed on in the spa or the restaurant. The front desk is a understated nook that doesn't detract from its surroundings. One of the nicest surprises for us was finding that no matter how many times we left our casita, we came back to our suite to find fresh towels, a restocked mini bar, a freshly made bed, new moisturizers, shampoo, etc... The one size fits all men's bathrobe for my "large" husband was magically replaced with an extra large size for him on day two of our stay. The entire Sanctuary experience is soft spoken, gracious, and gratifying. We will definitely return to Sanctuary. Forget all other resorts - this one makes you feel like you live on Camelback Mountain!

It has easy access from the airport, a short ten minute drive. It's extremely luxurious and the service is impeccable. It's a dream place to stay.

I am very likely to return to the Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain Resort.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

Amazing
Hotel Review by a traveler from Gaithersburg, MD - Posted Mar 10, 06
33 year old woman with a economy budget, traveling for business

The hotel was fabulous and the comfort of the room was exceptional. This was a first for me, staying in a bed other than my own that was comfortable and left me feeling rested and refreshed. The extra touches, tea lights in the evening, scent sprayed on pillows, bath salts to soak were simply wonderful.

This hotel made me feel entertained: All I had to do was step out of my room, and experience the beautiful setting and the amazing views.

I am very likely to return to the Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain Resort.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.
