The San Juan Inn is located just 22 miles North of the Utah/Arizona border where Monument Valley lies. Right across the San Juan River is the Navajo Indian Reservation and a short distance from many natural wonders such as: Goosenecks State Park, Valley of the Gods, Grand Gulch Primitive Area, Natural Bridges Monument and Mexican Hat Rock. Facilities include a fitness centre, television in room and lounge bar on property.

Friendly staff, uncomfortable, saggy beds that need to be replaced. Kind of tired decor and thin walled rooms that let in all the noise. Tiny coffin sized icky shower. Can't beat the location though.

Ohmygosh! The views from this hotel are great. It is situated on the San Juan River, smack dab in Monument Valley (remember the John Wayne films?). Mexican Hat is tiny (population = 90), but provides enough interest. The rooms are decorated in the knotty pine western theme...which are great! They have a pet policy and our dog was welcome. The staff is friendly and more than willing to work with you (it is family owned). There is a wonderful outdoor steakhouse just down the street.
The only thing that didn't work for us: the beds we had were hard and there were problems in receiving the internet. Otherwise, The Hat Rock Inn works perfectly for a stay in Monument Valley (and Valley of the Gods).
