37 year old female with a economy budget, traveling for leisure

It was our wedding night and we had booked and paid a deposit for a queen room, for one week duration, two and a half months ahead of time. We arrived late on our wedding day and we checked in and paid the remaining balance. We got to our room only to find that we had two twin beds. We were tired, so we decided not to make an issue of it. However, when we went to bed on our wedding night, we found that both of the beds were literally full of sand. We were told that beds could not be changed until maids arrived in the morning, even though it was our wedding night. Needless to say, it was very uncomfortable. The microwave and the alarm clock in the room did not work at all. The desk person would not get working appliances from another room as we requested, or put us in another room, because the manager was not there. Despite repeated calls, the manager never responded to us. It was the off season and there were many empty rooms open and available from which appliance could have been taken or we could have been moved into. Also, a coffee maker was supposed to be in the room, but there was not one. We asked for a coffee maker but we never received it, either. Since it was off season, we had to walk six blocks every morning to buy our coffee. We also had to eat out every night when we had planned to save money on our honeymoon by not eating out much. This was impossible because of the non working microwave. Our advice is to never stay at a Sahara hotel. There is no bargain price when the beds are not clean and comfortable, when you do not get what you pay for and when management will not respond to concerns and real problems.

I am not likely to return to the Sahara Motel on the Boardwalk.
I would not recommend it to friends.

This motel was awful. Upon entering our room at check in, we were hit by the strong, musty odor of smoke. They do not designate non-smoking rooms, so they instead spray a deodorizer that apparently doesn't work. Then we noticed that our soap dish in the tub was being held in place by duct tape! They couldn't fix it during our stay (nor would they give us another room - it shouldn't have been rented to begin with), so we had to wait until the next day to have someone remedy the hole in the wall by covering it with plastic and duct tape. The towels are as thin, and almost as small as tissues and they don't even provide you with real tissues, so we spent our stay using toilet paper to blow our noses. The GM was impossible to talk to, and no one else could help us with our concerns while there. In all, this place is a health hazard. The only staff members that did a good job were the housekeepers.

I am not likely to return to the Sahara Motel on the Boardwalk.
