Horrible

The food was good, but very expensive. The service, the cleanliness the pool closed at 7 PM and the extra room charge. The pool closes ridiculously early, the rooms are dirty, items don't work, burns in carpet etc. The staff were the rudest I have...

Not the nicest place to stay, but I did – Posted Jun 21, 2008

Okay

Not the nicest place to stay, but I did win 800 dollars within 20 minutes of checking in! Food/ restaurant choices are horrible. It was clean but run down. It is convenient because it is right by the train that can take you up and down the strip. I...

Good hotel for the price - but ... – Posted Jun 21, 2008

Okay
57 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

Ok, I read reviews from February 07 saying the hotel was under renovation and air conditioning wasn't working. Just got back from 2 night stay 6/18/08 to 6/20/08. Booked online through American Express. Free upgrade on availability.

We checked in and were given the upgrade. Room was a disaster!! Stains and burns all over carpet and air conditioning that was barely pumping. (it was 106 outside), and the room hadn't been cleaned. I went to the front desk, I was told they were having a problem with the air conditioning in that tower. After conferring with a manager, they said they were booked solid, but could move us the next day. I said I could NOT spend 1 night in that room - I couldn't breathe in there. The woman at the desk was very helpful (thanks Glory!) and went to speak with a manager a 2nd time. We were then told that a block of rooms just became available (they had been waiting for them to be cleaned). They were in the other tower. These rooms were a lot nicer - cold air blowing, but still warm. We were given comps for drinks, food and 2 for one show. We called housekeeping to ask for a fan - they didn't have any. Picked one up for 10.00 at the pharmacy on the strip and left it on all day and night - kept bathroom door closed and drapes closed. It helped and was a pleasure sleeping. I found the beds and pillows soft and comfortable. Loved the history of the place and the casino was not packed. Workers smiling and saying hello. Food at the buffet was okay, but better elsewhere. (But for 6.99 with a Club Sahara Card for dinner, it was worth it) The desserts were great!!

As for the hotel being under renovation - NOT! We were informed that the hotel was sold and that renovations are beginning in August of 08. I hope they keep the old theme and feel of the hotel.

For folks on a budget it's an ok place to stay - watch out for the broken air conditioning and don't expect the Mirage - after all, you are not paying Mirage prices.

Just another tip - after adding up what it would have cost us for the monorail and passage back and forth to the airport, we rented a car. For about 45.00 for the entire period and free parking at all the casinos, it was well worth it. We even took a side trip to the Hoover Dam. Cost of gas was about 30.00. Still less than the 4 of us would have spent on transportation.

Mediocre

Without rewriting the reviews, I agree with David B. from Penfield, NY. Big disappointment. In general, the place is showing it's age. I made our reservations almost 2 months in advance. With the lack of people staying there (from what I could...

If you're one of those people who nit-pick everything and think this hotel is in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the strip then stay somewhere else.

I loved this hotel. I did my homework (plus friends have stayed here before). It...

pros: Helpful staff.I have been in some bad rooms in Vegas, but this one makes a Motel 6 look like a Radisson. Let me first say that we did not have the problems with waiting in the check-in line like the other reviewers mentioned, and the staff...

Great hotel all around. Its at one end of the strip so you can walk all the way down the strip on one side, then walk back to your hotel on the other side and see everything the strip has to offer. Great parking with elevator access that goes right to the lobby. Great pool, nice place to meet people from all over the world, palm trees everywhere, you can drink in the pool or lounge on one of their many lounge recliners. Nice big casino. Free classy musical entertainment every night.Good food and inexpensive. The hotel is clean and a very relaxed atmosphere.Nice view of the strip and pool from your room. One block away from a strip mall with lots to offer for gifts, also a liquor store there.I would recommend this hotel to anybody.
