A "perfect" score may seem biased, but it is not. I am actually writing this from room 103 of this place to be exact. I drove here from Oakland, California and needed a pit stop to recover from the driving, one gets after driving so long, solo. I just wanted A) A decent room, B) Shower, C) A staging area for the last leg of my trip into Wichita (July 4th weekend now), D) Someplace to just pull myself together that was cheap (39.95-or something).
I did not, need fancy schmancy, and admittedly, upon first viewing, this place may not look too welcome for some. But if you are on a budget and are trying to just get the job done, this will do it. I've read reviews of this place that trash it, and I didn't think it was fair and am killing time sitting in front of the A/C that's saving me from the heat outside and writing this, certainly with no complaints, I just wish someone else wrote something like this when I was wondering where I was going to stay.
If you are a seasoned road and flying traveler, you know there are times you will just take anything to get grounded, just a simple, no frills room. This is one of those places, I have stayed in the Fairmont/Ritz style high end hotels etc, etc, so I'm pretty well rounded in what's good and what’s not). In fact it is far from the worst place I've stayed.
If you want no frills and practical after driving for 15-20 hours, this sure beats those nasty rest stops, and I don't feel like I'm simply settling either. If you want the Ritz, then get it and stop complaining. I was thankful I found this place by accident on July 4th weekend after being turned away by over 10 other places. In fact, the staff was excellent and friendly. I asked if there was wifi because my connection seemed shaky here and the lady at the desk came to my room to see if she could help then offered computer access if it was really needed. So you fussy road travelers, give them a break. I paid 39+change for this room, and that is a fine bargain.
