Royal Scott Motel Motel - Page 1

The location is far off the highway and the directions on the travel guide map we had were not very accurate. When we finally did arrive at 10:00 pm we asked for the most basic room they had and at what price. The (young man - one of three young sons of the owner) at the front desk indicated that the room would be $69.95 a night. We thought that was a little steep considering the motel's location and everything else. We then showed him an advertised price of $39.95 which he reluctantly honoured but only for a smoking room (we are non-smokers). We ABSOLUTELY DID NOT get a good feeling about this place, but it was late and we were very tired. We checked out the room and thought we'd give it a try, but when we unpacked we realized how dirty and unmaintained the room really was... There was broken plumbing in the bathroom and there were holes in the sheets... we just didn't feel we could stay there and left. Even the owners were difficult to deal with. It appeared to be family run and there was more than one person in charge One was willing to accomodate us and move us to a different room, while the other would have nothing of the sort.

We ended up at a very quaint motel up the street for about the same price. The only thing we really liked about this place was the fact that we didn't stay there that night.

Needless to say we would not recommend this place. All the other hotels in this area were about the same price and had much more to offer than this motel.
