31 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for business

I had the misfortune of staying at this hotel during my visit on last November. I checked into this hotel with a group of 12 and since I was the team leader, I must have given off a scent of having large sums of cash. I checked into my room and left for dinner and when I came back, my room had been ransacked, and the safe was pried out of the wall in the closet, along with my clothes, and suitcase was used to carry the safe out of my room. The hotel, was and still has yet to respond and explain how this occurred or reimburse me for the stolen items. All that I'm being told is that it's an ongoing investigation almost a year later. There was no forced entry, which means, someone at the front desk collaborated this robbery by providing a key to a hotel employee or a relative. I strongly advise, anyone reading this to consider staying anywhere else but here. The lobby air-conditioning only cools so long as your standing exactly next to the unit, the pool was under heavy construction which we were not told during the time of booking and also of considerable concern are the mosquitoes. These pesky flying blood suckers prey on you constantly, but more so due to the large stagnant water fountains outside of every room which serve as active breeding grounds. I think the last straw was thinking I going to have access to beach, then realizing that the hotel property is completely surrounded by an iron fence and closed off from beach access. I have more information for anyone interested in seeing the pictures from the crime scene.

It's my 1st day here and we found the receptionist to be unfriendly and barly spoke proper englis. The rooms are horrible the beds are not neat and very lumpy. There are no refrigerators we could not get into the room after leaving. The receptionist needs customer service training he never smiles and he's very insensitive.

Stay away!!!!

I assume that the main tower is a lot better, but I never got the chance for the four star I paid for.

I looked at the room and complained. There was trash, mold, dirt, it was old, and very uncomfortable. After complaining, they gave us another room just as bad. I questioned the Four Star rating the man at desk laughed and said it was due to their amenities. So that made me laugh.

It was so bad that I chose not to take a shower because it was that filthy. Also, be aware of the hidden mandatory resort fee that most people don't stick around to use. I was charged $39 to park my car that I didn't even have. I was in a cab. The help was rude and very unhelpful. They could not speak much English and acted like he was pleased to cheat us. I booked through a third party website which they did a good job, but whoever rates these places needs to be fired because they had to have been paid off.

When I objected to the surprise $19 per night for use of pool towels (because I was there on business and never likely to use them) they threatened to cancel my room, nice touch.

My room had a carpet covered in stains and when I brushed against the bed valance what dropped to the floor? A used condom.

It was a complete shambles, I’m never going their again

member icon Rundown hotel with $19 resort fee

We were not located in the main building, but instead in some rundown motel-like annex. The room was filthy with mold in the bathroom.

The cleaning lady did not use the vacuum cleaner, and the carpet was full with bread crusts. At check in, there were pubic hairs in the shower and the sink. The room had a view on the garbage disposal of the hotel. The non-smoking room smelled like smoke. The elevator was probably broken for more than a week and there was no sign of any repairs under way.

There was a hefty resort fee ($19) among others for wireless internet that does not work. The room did not have a comforter and housekeeping could only bring an additional pair of sheets.

The only thing it has going is location. In other words: calling this rundown motel a 4 star is way overrated. I would rather give it 1 to 2 stars.

We went to this hotel for my friend's birthday and booked two double rooms. Her room was "Not available" as reserved, so they gave her a king suite which smelled like something died in it. We went back to complain and ended up with a single king bed for four people with no view. When we got there they said they did not even have our double bed reservation even though we prepaid and had a printout showing the confirmation number and payment total!

We ended up with a single Queen bed for three people also with no view. The hotel staff not only didn't care that we were totally inconvenienced, but they tried to blame us saying we should have called to confirm! Apparently one confirmation is not enough!

On top of everything else we had to pay $30 for parking and were offered no complimentary services or room price reduction to compensate us. It’s the worst hotel ever!

I am not likely to return to the Royal Palm South Beach.
I would not recommend it to friends.

It was very disappointing from the start. The staff was not the least bit friendly, there was no restaurant and the balconies they had advertised on the internet were no more than a ledge on which only a single person could stand. The views were minimal from virtually all the rooms. The walls were paper thin. I heard every thing from love making to people just coming and going in the hallways. Few of the sockets in the room were operational and the room service was inconsistent. We had to ask for service.

This was supposed to be an upscale hotel. Even the concierge who paraded the lobby with a suit and giving orders to the doorman and bellhops had no friendly greetings or even a smile. I was shocked!

The room was nice but with the awful acoustics, the unfriendly folks we had to pass on our way in and out each day and the lack of a restaurant or decent room service (menu was minimal and their hours were terrible. We even called once and they laughed at us, then failed to show up) insured we will never stay their again and will caution our friends about going there as well. Shame on the Royal Palm that was anything but!

I am not likely to return to the Royal Palm South Beach.
