Royal Atlantic Beach Resort Resort - Page 1

I was at the Royal Atlantic this summer in August 2007 and it was my 8th year. I believe it is under new management and nothing is being done to keep this place in shape yet the price goes up each year. Broken screen door, dirty carpet, windows and bed sheets. Bath towels are tissue paper. No one seems to care. The beach is beautiful and this hotel is right on the beach so you do not have to move your car. I do not spend a lot of time in my hotel room when I am in Montauk, but when you can't even see out the window or are afraid to sit on the bed or couch, it is not worth it!

I recently stayed at the Royal Atlantic for four nights with my husband and our two kids. We had a great time. The location of this hotel is right on the beach. Our room had a beach view with a balcony right in the pool area. The pool area has tables, lounge chairs and a snack bar that serves drinks. You can walk right down to the beach from there. It was great.

The rate included breakfast which was a great way to start the day. The service was good considering it’s peak season and there were lots of people there. I think they were full. There was one afternoon that was overcast and we took the kids to the small arcade room by the front desk. That was a nice plus! I think we only had to use our car once during our stay because we wanted to see the Montauk lighthouse and also go to the harbor (not much there unless you are into boats). We were able to walk to restaurants, shops and anything else we needed right from the hotel.

The only negative thing I can think of is that a hairdryer was not provided in the room. Yes, the rooms aren't 5 star, but that would be hard to expect with such close proximity to the beach. The room was clean and comfortable and we really didn't spend much time in the room anyway! We really enjoyed our little vacation and plan on coming back next year!
