Theresa and Charles Mock found this gem with towering Palm trees only three miles from the West entrance of Joshua Tree National Park. The Manor was established in 1928 built in Pennsylvania colonial style now consisting of seven cottages and two suites in the main house. Peace and solitude are one of the best aspects of this BnB, not to mention that a family of great horned owls call this home. Early in the morning or early in the evening you just may catch a glimpse of the wonderful birds. Homesteaded by Bill and Elizabeth Campbell, love at first sight bound these two together. Bill fought in WWI, was taken as a POW and pronounced dead, then later showed in Pennsylvania miraculously to get married. They moved west to California. Suffering from the effects of mustard gas Dr. Lucky advised Bill to move to the high desert where the altitude and low humidity are said to alleviate pulmonary suffering. At the Oasis of Mara in Joshua Tree where they camped out for three months, the couple homesteaded 160 acres taking four years to build their home. Hinges on the doors were made by on the premises by a blacksmith. Famous personalities made their was here, such as Red Skelton, James Cagney and his friend Ali Rubel, won an Academy Award for Zip-a-dee-doodah, which was composed on the very grand piano in the sitting room.
