I reserved this hotel through the Choice hotels website. Since I had GPS, I didn't write down the address/phone. When I got to Ukiah, I couldn't find the hotel via GPS, so I called 411 to get the phone number as the hotel is not easily found from the freeway. The hotel was not listed in 411, nor in the local Ukiah phonebook. I finally stopped at another hotel. After checkin I accessed email and called the proprieter to ask if he would not charge me for not staying as his hotel had an unlisted number. He wouldn't let me finish my sentances and told me I should have called the Choice hotline (also not listed in a phonebook... ) to find him, that I was irresponsible to travel without having written down the hotel phone #. I recommended to the parent company that he list himself locally, and received this response from him. "We are sorry that you had forgotten to write down where you were staying (address/phone) but with all due respect, that is not the fault of the hotel...In the future we recommend you have all your travel details with you, this will avoid this kind of problem in the future." Actually, I won't be staying in a choice hotel--I'll reserve with those that specialize in hospitality, list themselves in phonebooks, and treat me with respect even when I make "irresponsible decisions".
