You’ll find the Asiatic proprietress of this very sad café has very few words of English, and not one of them is “please” or “thank you”. Certainly this, together with her most unwelcoming scowl and the fact that my room was not ready at the appointed time, got us off on the wrong foot, so to speak. But there’s no internet either, though she advertises the facility. Accordingly (since Milady didn’t care for the fact that I dared to mention this), I declined to eat breakfast lest she poisoned me. Avoid Flagstaff in any case, since Amtrak rudely rumbles through the town every half hour, blasting away on ear-splitting air-horns.

The Rodeway Inn Downtown is across from the Amtrak station and vewry convenient to get to, especially when you have to leave at 5am, it about 200 feet away. The rooms are small but very clean and the price was reasonable.

We booked the Rodeway Inn because we were looking for an inexpensive place to stay for a overnight stop. This place fit the bill and for the price I expected much less, the rooms were tidy and they offered a continental breakfast.
