Step back in time to the "Gilded Age" in a house built for entertaining Hannibal society, shortly before the turn of the century (1871).
John L. Robards, an attorney and lifelong friend of Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain), built this house for his wife and three children.
It boasts one of only two flying staircases in Hannibal, which circle all the way to the third floor.
Massive pocket doors that separate the double parlors still slide smoothly after over 130 years of use.
Three marble fireplace mantles still remain, along with some of the original patterned wood floors.
The house is an example of classic Italianate, with massive woodwork and interior brick walls.
Some wonderful plaster coffered ceilings have been uncovered and restored. Many of the 9-foot windows still have the original inside shutters to shut out sun and cold.
Each room has a private bath, king or queen beds, in-room cable TV, and telephones.
The dining room is on the first floor and coffee is available for the early risers who might want to take a stroll to the river before breakfast.
Breakfast can include cinnamon rolls or coffeecake, tea breads, biscuits, fresh fruit, quiches, ham, bacon, and sausage as well as juice, coffee or tea.
Your hosts, Leon and Nedra McClellan, will do everything possible to make your stay pleasant. Though renovation is still on going on the third floor they will be happy to give you a tour of the house, including the cupola with a great view of the Mississippi River.
Sorry we cannot accommodate pets.

In January 2007, we stayed several nights at Robards Mansion Bed and Breakfast. As frequent guests of B&Bs around the country, we found this establishment to be top notch – especially for the low price! Not only did we find our guest room...

Mediocre
This could be a great B&B and I'm sure they have worked hard on the place but as guests we were not happy. If the innkeeper's are reading this, please allow me some constructive critisism - 1. Don't tell the story of cutting your fingers off and...
