I want to start off saying that if you are Caucasian/of European decent and love the mountains and like the small town feel, this is definitely the place for you. The rooms are gorgeous and roomy, and it's all very comfortable.

Now, if you happen to be of African decent (which i am not), don't bother coming here. Because even if they don't make a scene and kick you out, they will remember and not let you come back. :(...Which is all very disappointing to me. I grew up in this town and love it with everything I have, but, i also love my boyfriend, who is black. I was appalled when making my reservation, I was asked who would be accompanying me and upon telling the owner that it would be my boyfriend she responded with, "the last time he was here we had complaints of a party (fair weekend, two years prior) and the room smelt of marijuana", which I can assure it did not. She then suggested I find other accommodations.

So, all in all, a beautiful place. but owned by racist, closed minded people.

I had been told this hotel was "pretty nice", but what I wasn't told was that owner was a wonderful human being! Not only did she make sure the suite I had was well maintained, but she made me truly feel, "at home".

I ate several meals from the Deli. All were wonderful! She suggested a sandwich I had reservations about (I don't care for mushrooms) but I decided to give it a try. It was terrific! It brought me back the next morning for my complementary breakfast, and the next evening for another delectable meal.

Each time I visited the Deli, I was greeted with the same, "down home" care.

I enjoyed my stay very much and would recommend it to anyone visiting Mariposa.

I had an extended stay in Mariposa for school and am very happy I chose River Rock Inn. The manager is a dear, and I just loved visiting with her when I could, and the rooms are very comfortable and quaint. When I go back, I will take a clock radio with me, as I like to listen to music when getting ready, but other than that, all was great.

The resident big, white pigeon and I became friends and he greeted me every morning as I left. The patio is beautiful, whether you're dining for lunch from the great cafe choices or sitting out under the stars at night, and taking in the beautiful mountain views.

I think anyone would be pleased with their stay there!

This is an old inn, one of the oldest in the Gold Rush town of Mariposa that has been recently remodeled. It is a stand-out operation since the owner has begun running the place, and she is very friendly and proud of her place.

The rooms are nicely decorated, the cafe is super great, and we enjoyed being able to walk anywhere in town from our front door. We like bed and breakfasts inns, but if you are on a budget, River Rock Inn is a great combination of charm and affordability.

This is a really small place, less than ten rooms, so expect to deal with the innkeeper, like you would with small inns in Europe. You may have to wait to get a call back regarding reservations, etc. There are no phones in the rooms, and no pool, but we like the price and the peace and quiet found on the back patio under the big trees.

If you get spotty service from the help, tell the owner, she will make it right. The beds are good, and the rooms are clean. We have stayed at River Rock twice in the last two years. It is our favorite place to stay when visiting Yosemite. We don't drive into the park, we just jump on the YARTs bus, it stops close to the inn, and save money on gas and lodging for cheap weekend get-aways.

We are not into staying at chain hotels, so if you are, this may not be the place for you. For us it is a slice of small town heaven. Mariposa is a great little town!
