My family was having a reunion on a cruise so I booked through an online website, a place that would be close to the pier. Then I passed the info on to the family. They booked directly through the hotel and it was $28 cheaper. Needless to say I was disappointed with the website. The hotel was perfect for our needs with a shuttle that ran to the pier. We were originally told the shuttle was free a service to guest, but when we arrived at the pier the man charged us. He held the luggage until we paid.

First things first, parking, well there really isn't any. It's $20 for valet, and they took 1 1/2 hours to get our car when we wanted to leave. Understandable for a busy hotel, but I only saw 3 other families the whole stay. Next, service, the men working at the front desk barely spoke English and seemed very bothered by us checking in, the language was a real problem, I couldn't understand them and they couldn't understand me. That goes for the entire staff. No room service. The room, stains on the floor, broken telvision, double bed listed as queen, broken toilet, only blanket was duvee, no sheet given, called twice for a sheet was promised both times housekeeping would be "right up". Finally gave up and bought my own. Positives, beautiful lobby, cute bar, and pretty restaurant. The bartender was so sweet, I just wanted to take her home with me. If you just want to see the city and don't care about the hotel this is a great choice, it's cheap and in a pretty good spot, but if you care about service do not stay here!

This was my first trip to Miami and I hate to say, my worst hotel stay ever.

The hotel is very hard to find. It took us over an hour to locate even though we were less than a mile away from it off the interstate. The only signs on the hotel are the "Ho and Suites" sign that you see light up at night and the small one you see when directly in the luggage drop off area.

After we finally found the hotel, we were made to pay cash for a $19 a night valet charge. Upon checking in, we were made to give a credit card, although paid in full which I was fine with. Except for the fact that without letting me know it was being done, they put a funds hold on my credit card. The rooms are very cold since they are not carpeted as well as not cleaned well. There was dirt all over the bathroom and in the corners of the bedroom. I can completely see why the rooms are so dirty since after our first night we were not even given maid service until 5 pm the next day at which time we refused service since we were getting ready for dinner.

When I noticed on the second day of my stay that I had a hold on my credit card the man at the desk, in his broken English, told me that I would have to speak to a manager, whom happens to always be conveniently not available. Upon check out of the hotel, I was told that I could not see a manager and the hold on my card would be reversed in 2 to 3 hours. Two days later, since the hold was still on my credit card, I searched and searched for a phone number for the hotel, since if you call 411 the phone number is not listed under anything, I called the hotel to again try to speak to a manager or get a corporate phone number.

I come to find out the managers are only there Monday through Friday from 9-5 and they are independently owned so you can not call a corporate office for complaints or problems. The one good part of the hotel would be the bartender, he was the only friendly employee.

I found the front desk staff to be unfriendly and rude, plus they gave me incorrect answers to questions about public transport and directions to the beach. The restaurant/bar staff was nice. They have average rooms and other facilities.

I am not likely to return to the River Park Hotel and Suites.
I would not recommend it to friends.

The location was nice, right by the public transportation People Mover. The room was beautiful. The front desk staff was a little less than friendly and helpful, we did not get very good answers to questions about where to eat and how to get to the airport, but they seemed a bit busy. We did have to wait forty five minutes for our room to be ready and then we had to ask about it, they did not call us to the desk.

I am somewhat likely to return to the River Park Hotel and Suites.
I might recommend it to friends.

I had a group of friends and family staying at the Clarion with us, and at check in I found out that one who had booked the lower rates outside of my group block got upgraded. My guests that booked with the group block paid a much higher rate and got nothing that was promised or booked. The front desk told us it didn't matter. Even though I booked all suites for my group we were put in single standard king rooms, while other guests we know got upgraded to our suites.

I am not likely to return to the River Park Hotel and Suites.
I would not recommend it to friends.

They gave me a queen-sized bed when I booked a king-sized bed. The room next door was the gym and the noise from the machines was extremely annoying. The windows were dirty. The hot water was not hot enough. No breakfast was...no parking was included--only some valet parking.

I am not likely to return to the River Park Hotel and Suites.
I would not recommend it to friends.

The air conditioning was broken in our room. The desk sent up maintenance personnel to check it out, but the air unit was never fixed. After several complaints from our roommates, we were moved to a different room.

I am not likely to return to the River Park Hotel and Suites.
