We were at the Riu resort in Cancun, Mexico for one week and we just loved it. The hotel and the staff were wonderful. The accommodations were great. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

This hotel made me feel relaxed: We felt very welcome and the facilities were enjoyable to use.

I am very likely to return to the Riu La Palace de Las Americans.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

I went to RPLA in May for my wedding. I actually got married at the hotel next door, which was Riu Cancun. RPLA is a gorgeous hotel. The lobby is beautiful and the service is wonderful.

I actually stayed in room 413, which had a phenomenal view. I do not think there was a better view! Inside the hotel room was gorgeous. The mini bar is fully stocked. It was truly the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in. The only complaint that I really have was the bed. Unless you got really liquored up before you went to bed, you will notice that the bed is really hard. It is almost like sleeping on the ground. However, they at least give you extra pillows and blankets.

I was unable to go to many of the restaurants. A majority of my guests stayed at the Riu Cancun because RPLA was completely booked so I spent a majority of my time at the Riu Cancun.

I must say the beach was gorgeous. You will not be disappointed!

23 year old female with a moderate budget

I got married at the Riu Cancun in May of 2007. I am very disappointed with the way my wedding turned out. My wedding planner did not listen to anything I said the entire 9 months of the wedding planning process. My wedding planner was the one who does the weddings for Riu Palace Las Americas, Riu Cancun, and Riu Caribbe. I basically had to start completely over with the wedding planning because she did neglected to note anything I asked of her.

The wedding planner constantly showed up, up to an hour late every single time I met with her. She even showed up late to my own wedding ceremony to come get me. My guests actually thought I was backing out of the wedding after they traveled from across the United States to get to Cancun.

She neglected to book my reception room even after our initial meeting together where I told her what I wanted for the hundreth time. When we arrived at the reception area (La Pacha), the air conditioner was not even turned on and the DJ wasn't even there. The manager of La Pacha didn't even know that there was supposed to be a wedding reception there. Therefore, they pulled some random Riu worker off of his job to be my DJ for the evening (which was $220 per hour). The first song he plays is "Another One Bites the Dust", which we initially thought was a joke, but it turned out it wasn't. Then he decides to play rap music (most of my guests are over 50). He did not understand any English. When we requested a slow dance song, he played even more rap music. I did not even get to have a first slow dance with my husband or father. We didn't even get to do the dollar dance.

Everyone was sweating profusely at our reception. Some of our guests left early because of it. We also had random hotel guests barging into our private reception because the Hotel neglected to put up a private party sign. My husband had to stand next to the door almost the entire time trying to keep unwanted guests out.

They have great food, drinks, and amenities. Their staff was very courteous and polite. The pools are awesome. They could use a more efficient way of reserving dinner at specialty restaurants and also could use a dancing bar.

I didn't care for the men in drag night at the theater also. I'm glad my kids were not there to see that. Other than that, I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
