35 year old male with a economy budget, traveling for leisure

My flight was delayed such that I missed my connector to San Francisco and neither the airline (United), nor the travel booking site, nor the Ritz Inn gave any forbearance for the inconvenience. It ended up I had to pay for a room that I didn't even get to stay in. I was stuck in D.C. Somebody should take responsibility for keeping customers from getting ripped off by circumstances beyond their control. You're the business. We're the customer. Get it right.
