30 year old male with a economy budget, traveling for leisure
We liked it. We planned on spending most of our time outside of the hotel/resort and this place was great. We got a room with a kitchen (which I highly recommend). If you are looking for a place with a crazy nightlife you sure arent going to find it here. Overall this is the best value you will find if you plan on spending most of your time away from the hotel but still want to stay someplace nice.

The Kaanapali Shores resort was excellent. The room, the location and the service were top notch.

The location was great and easy to get around from. The service and comfort were nice. My advice to other guests is to ask for an upgrade to a studio. We did so and it was very nice to have a kitchen. I recommend checking out the sushi place just north of there in the closed hotel. They had a great special in the early evening and it was so good!
This hotel made me feel inspired: I think that it might just have been being in Hawaii that made me feel invigorated, but it was such a relaxing and friendly space that it was hard not to feel that way.

The good things about this hotel are: we were upgraded to a partial ocean view room at the same rate as a garden room just by asking. The staff fixed a fire alarm that was beeping in our room within five minutes of calling. The bad things are the kitchen in our condo was clearly from the eighties! It was very dated, and we even had a small microwave with a dial! It was very inconvenient to use such an old microwave, and I know they could at least replace the microwaves in those very dated kitchens! The rest of the furniture was very modern and nice, but the bed was quite hard, and the pillows were hard as rocks. They were very stingy on replacing shampoo and soap. We were given one bar of soap for the whole week. We paid almost $272 a night. I don't know who made the decision in housekeeping to cleary reserve toiletries as much as possible, but it clearly didn't go unnoticed! I also found a very large dead cockroach in the room, but it could have come in from the Lanai, and they obviously spray! They are starting to remodel the very dated rooms, but they put up a sign that they would remodel mon-friday 10-4. Sunday morning at 8:30 we were awoken by the sound of drilling and pounding. Overall, I was not overly impressed by the hotel itself, but it does have a nice beach and garden area.

The service was average. The bed was great. The walls needed painting and updating. The air returns were very dirty and looked as if they hadn't been cleaned for months. Overall we really enjoyed our stay though.
This hotel made me feel relaxed: The beds were great and very comfortable. Also the whole atmosphere was beautiful and peaceful.

This is the perfect location for families or couples especially during whale season. The suites are spacious and comfortable with great amenities such as a washer and dryer, and a full size kitchen with dishwasher. The lobby and courtyard is exactly what you imagine a luxury hotel would be in Hawaii.
This hotel made me feel content: Every time you walked through the lobby you were enveloped in the smell of exotic flowers and the sound of the water feature in the courtyard. Combine that with the sound of the ever-present ocean surf and it's my idea of perfect.

It was an outstanding value and an outstanding vacation. We would love to do it again.
This hotel made me feel secure: They appeared to have good electronic locks, a room safe, and no apparent strangers wandering through the halls.

Our stay was part of a longer visit to the Big Island and Maui. Our stay at this hotel was the highlight of our trip.
This hotel made me feel relaxed: It was low key, no pressure to hurry up.

It has an excellent location, right on the beach. The maid service could have been a little better. I was thrilled with the ground level condo only about fifty feet from the beach. The employees were friendly and knowledgeable, and the condo overall was lovely.
This hotel made me feel comfortable: The rooms were spacious and home like, while still projecting the island ambience. The concierge went out of her way to be helpful.

The hotel has excellent grounds. It also has a good staff and facilities. I was disappointed there was only one on-site restaurant, though.

I liked that I could get ice delivered to my room at any hour. I didn't like the variety of food at the restaurant. I liked the close proximity to the beach. Overall, I'd recommend it to anyone. The pros outweigh the cons.

The hotel was great. But it was a bit too windy on that side of the island.

It was a good experience for staying in that type of hotel/motel. I'd suggest others to try it as least once even though it was kind of expensive. I'd do it again.
This hotel made me feel elegant: I normally would not pay that much for a hotel/motel room. My most extravagant room before was at a Westin Inn in MN. Maybe it was just because of the location that made it expensive.

The hotel is in a wonderful and quiet area . The hotel itself and the lots, beach and pool were immaculate. The help received was second to none.
This hotel made me feel hip: The friendly greetings from all and the wonderful interaction with everyone truly made our stay fun and relaxed.
