This hotel was way over priced, but mayby they charged more for the bed bugs!

The floors were very uneven and very dirty! the hall was so thin you could not walk through with a bag. The walls were stained and over all the room was dirty. We found bed bugs in the beds and there solution was to send us up new sheets so we could change them like that would get rid of them. I went with my girl scout troop and we were all terrified by the grossness of this hotel. We could not stay there and when we wanted to get our money back (we stayed for less than one hour) there was not even a manger there!

Don't stay there!!

You might think of staying here because it's reasonable and in a good location, in spite of knowing my and others' caution about this hotel. Unfortunately I was not the exception and to my shame I made a reservation for a triple room. They assigned me a single, tiny, nasty room for THREE adults due to their overbooking. There was absolutely NO apology from hotel staff. I encountered at least six other guests who had the same experience (and worse) as mine. The staff kept saying, "I don't know. Talk to a manager," who was never present at the hotel. I observed one of the frustrated guests was yelled back from the front desk person, and two of the angry customers cursed at the staff and left the hotel. So don't even think about it. The hotel will ruin your trip. This happened in July, 07. You should find somewhere else. And the hotel will consume your time and energy. I'm in process of disputing their overcharge on my credit card now. Outrageous.

It is dirty and there are bedbugs, we have also heard of rat problems.

We woke up on the first morning to find our beds covered in bedbugs and blood spots, every other complaint is nothing compared to this, it is small and dirty and the lift looks a bit dangerous and is tiny but on a good trip this could be forgotten, however the site we saw in the morning I will not forget!

The location may look good, but its not worth it, please look for somewhere else even if you have already booked!

18 year old man with a economy budget, traveling for leisure

Went here with a school group in spring of 2005. Price was reasonable and continental breakfast was nice. Location great; convenient to subway, etc. Built in the 1930s; formerly known as the Penn Terminal Hotel. Rooms were odd-shaped; some were small, others were fairly large.

Elevator is small, hallways are narrow, and some windows were closed shut using screws. We found out why when one night, a man attempted to enter our 7th-story room from a window leading to the fire escape. Despite this event, I'd stay here again, at least for the nostalgia!

NOTE: This review refers to a previous management company, but the review of the hotel's location and history may still be useful to travelers thinking of staying at the Regency Inn New York.

The Regency offers almost everything a New York visitor could want, but it is expensive.

The rooms are beautifully decorated, clean, and spacious. The bathrooms are large and well-appointed. The linens are luxurious. In numerous visits, I have always found the front desk staff to be arrogant and unhelpful, and downright snotty at times.

The bell staff, concierge and doormen are welcoming and friendly. The hotel is well-situated for sightseeing, yet the rooms are quiet.
