The hotel staff (when you could understand them) stated that the rooms were recently renovated, which appeared to be merely a coat of paint (which had already been pencil-marked). The carpet was old and worn. The sink had no drain plug, for which the manager provided a temporary stopper. The towel rack fell off the wall. There was no place to hang clothes. I found a wad of gum stuck to the headboard, and something had been sprayed across the nightstand. There are no non-smoking rooms, and mine had a strong odor from a cheap deodorant spray. I had an unexpected wake-up call (at 5:30 a.m.) from the next room in the form of *bed activity* which was repeated again at 6:00 a.m. The bedding was comfortable enough, but the sound of a nearby train (last heard at 9:30 p.m.) could disturb some.
