I was a bit concerned to stay at the property after reading the previous comments. My reservations obligated me to stay there and I found the opposite of what the previous comments mentioned about the area not being safe.
I was told (and saw) that the property completed renovations in June of 2006 with the new Red Roof design. The pool had a tarp over it and I was told it wasn't opened for the season yet. The area was well lit and on an intersection where there is plenty of activity. Food selection was great. There were a lot of selections nearby. I played golf down the street at Lake-Wright Golf Course (about a mile away) and saw VA Wesleyan was across the street. Because it's near the major highways in the area, I was able to easily get to the other attractions we had planned for our stay in Virginia Beach.
