"Just awful" is an understatement

41 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure
We had a family reunion recently and being unfamiliar with the area we chose the Red Roof Inn.
It looked OK from the outside, but it was very depressing. The rooms were dark with very little lighting options. One of the beds had not been fully made, the sheet and blankets were folded back. There were numerous cigarette burns on the bathtub and several on the toilet seat (couldn't figure that one out). We elected not to use the shower at all. The microwave was cracked and the interior was rusted, chipped and icky. The carpet was worn, spider webs in the corners of the ceiling. The pillows felt like a piece of unpliable cardboard wrapped in a pillowcase. I realize this was a property categorized as "economic", but felt half the price would have been too much.
One last comment, there were no amenities. One little itsy bitsy soap and one small packet of tissue, that was it. Had we not been in a rush to get to the reunion and had more time to inform the manager we would have done so. We did ask for an extra ashtray upon arrival, that took a phone call and then a visit to the office. The clerk had to "find one". It arrived just before we had to leave for the reunion. Never again.

This was the room from the dark side. The rooms were what I would characterize out of an x-rated movie, (although those rooms have a little more class).
It was not clean, there were cigarettes burns on the toilet, bathtub, and sink counter. Sleeping on the floor would have been more comfortable than what they used as a bed. However, the floor was extremely dirty. It’s just not a place for anyone to stay. It could have been free and I would not take that offer.
I don't know where the people who gave this hotel a good review stayed, apparently they were offered some kind of compensation to recommend this motel I would not even to my worst enemy.

The room exceeded my expectation for the amount charged. I will go back in the future.
This hotel made me feel comfortable: The room was large and comfortable.

The place was wonderful. The only problem was with a movie we did not order, the movie had been played for an hour and we were not able to get our money back or a different movie even though we did not order the movie that was on and we had been gone from the room to get dinner for more than an hour.

It was old, out dated, and the air conditioning was inefficient.

I liked the great weekly rates and nice hotel suite with two rooms. I advise others to ask for a room at the back of the hotel to reduce sun glare and highway noise.
This hotel made me feel relaxed: It had a helpful staff and modern conveniences. It had a secure parking lot with patrol and good accommodations for laundry with security cameras.

They could use better weekly rates, and a monthly rate would be appreciated.

This hotel made me feel pampered: They brought towels to us when we needed them. They were more than helpful with directions and anything else we needed.

The carpet seemed old, the room was not warm and cozy--the heat was off when we arrived and it was a very cold night. The sofa bed in the suite was ill equipped and uncomfortable.
