This is the worst hotel experience I ever had in my life, and I stayed in hotels a lot in countries where hot water is a rare commodity.
Major complaints:
1) smelly, shabby and dirty - when I say smelly, I really mean it
2) you reserve an ocean front view and never get it
3) vallet parking - I think this place should be famous for slow service
4) continental breakfast - what are they talking about???? coffee and dry store bought pound cake IS NOT continental breakfast.
5) SLOW elevators, 2 of which were reserved for Shabbat (they stoppped at every floor). Non-observing folk were yelled at for using these elevators, while it was OK for the observing folk to demand the hotel staff to accompany them in non-reserved elevators and push buttons for them. It was also OK to leave their luggage and trash in the middle of the hallway for someone else allowed to work to pick it up.
6) it took us more than an hour to check in - even though we came later than the official check in starts (3 pm)

The hotel itself is average however a little pricey and the food on the property is pricey as well. We had a peice of luggage stolen from the bell hop desk and the hotel owner and managment would not take any responsibility for this theft. We were told to turn it in to our homeowners ins with $500 deductable. I am not so sure that this was not an inside job and worst of all is that this luggage belonged to our 10year old with all of his prized possessions contained there in. Hotel staff very unprofessional throughout this whole matter went from rude to ruder and manager on duty would not even speak with us when incident happend. We were even accused of lying about the piece of luggage be taken. My advice is go to this hotel at YOUR OWN RISK because heaven forbid you should have a problem.
On side bar Ramada Corporate told us each hotel is individually owned and operated and they could not help us out either. No on takes responsibility at ramada who are associated with Wyndam Resorts, I know that I will be avoiding Wyndam Resorts in the future.

The service was the worst I have ever seen. This place cannot call itself a resort. It is nothing like the the internet advertises. The providers are rude and unprofessional. We are traveling with children on a vacation. I was ignored at the front desk several times with no one even there, the phone was the same service. We booked our room 4 months in advance and still got a room with construction right outside our window. We asked to change and they only had a smoking room clean. We were told not to sit in the chairs on the beach. We went to the cafe and bar at the pool for dinner at 5:30 and it was closed down. We went swimming at 2:00 and were told to get towels at the pool, but no one was there the few hours we stayed there. The hotel was in interior dismay, the entire place smelled of air freshener that could make you sick. The hotel offered a game room, but we were told later that it had closed down. When we left, we left a coat in our room, I had to call twice and was transfered several times to be hasseled and yelled at about my credit card. I would not recomend this place to anyone who is wanting to enjoy a vacation, spend your money at a real resort. I can't believe we wasted so much money for this place.
I am not likely
to return to the Ramada Plaza Marco Polo Beach Resort.
I would not recommend it to friends.

We attended a wedding where the guests stayed at this hotel for several days. The conversation among the guests was consistently centered on how terrible the hotel was, and no one could believe how bad the rooms and facilities were, or how badly they were treated by the staff. This was not just one or two people - it was 10-20 who all had similar experiences. Some of the rooms have been remodeled and some have not - if you get one of the old ones, you are REALLY in trouble. The room we started in had peeling paint all over the ceiling, walls, and trim, had a large area (maybe 8-10") of the bathtub where the white finish was peeled back and sticking up, had old and worn out furniture, and had just about no hot water - and those are just the top issues. We got them to move us to a "remodeled" room, which was much better - but still very bad. New floor, appliances, etc., but still ancient furniture with the finish worn off, the vent in the ceiling at the front of the room dripped water so there were puddles on the (hard tile) floor, the tub made an awful screeching/groaning noise until you switched the control to direct the water out the shower head and not the tub faucet, the hot water came and went as you showered, the water would not completely shut off in the tub, the light fixtures had never been fully installed and there were bare bulbs with no covers over them, etc. When they moved us to the new room, they gave me keys and I was moving my things in, and on the 2nd trip down I found someone else trying to move into the same room - obviously they had made a mistake, but when I called the front desk they unbelievably said "well, that is YOUR problem, not ours". The staff in general was terrible - they either paid no attention to you at all, or were arrogant. This included the concierge, the bellman, and the front desk. There were too many bad things to list them all. The lower level of the hotel, where shops are, was ancient looking and poorly maintained, and actually smelled bad. I found it interesting that while they have safes in the rooms, the safes are not attached to anything, so you can just pick them up and carry them off - and the one in our first room did not work, anyway. Do not be fooled by their pretty pictures or the apparently good prices - this is a hotel to avoid if you have any choice at all.
Note that I am not a "complainer". I travel quite a bit, and I am easy to please - I expect minor glitches and irritations from time to time. This is the first hotel I have felt this way about in many years.
