Worst hotel stay ever. Dirty, dirty room, bathroom, Bed, Pool, walkways, etc. Do NOT stay here! Our weekend was ruined, I left in tears. The pictures on their website are bogus.

We had to check out because the room was filthy and smelled of urine. The bed linen and blanket had previous guest's hair and excrement on it.

Stay away at any price.

I was worried because I read the comment the previous visitor left, but I decided to give this place a shot because the pictures shown were really nice compared to the other hotel we were considering in the surrounding area.

My friend arrived at the hotel first and I was telling her to watch out for the things the previous visitor stated such as the kids in the parking lot, bugs, stains, and trash. She arrived there and said the room was cool, but smelled of urine. I arrived a few hours later and was witness to the smell, but overall the room wasn't bad and after a while the smell disappeared. Actually I wasn't disappointed with the room it was with what happened the next morning.

At 10:30 a.m. housekeeping was banging on the door. The "Do not disturb" sign was on the door, but housekeeping said their list was showing we didn't pay for a second night. I said there must be some kind of mistake because we have a two day reservation. The guy then shrugs his shoulders and moves on. I grabbed some towels from another housekeeper and returned to the room. At 11:00 a.m. the manager knocks on the door saying we have to pay now or hit the road. I'm baffled because I've stayed at plenty of hotels and the usual order of operations is:

1. Make reservation

2. Arrive at hotel, swipe the credit card and place the amount of the room on hold

3. Enjoy the room

4. On the last day return to the front desk and the price of the room is now deducted from your credit card.

I felt we did our part by calling and reserving the room a week in advance but I just felt that this hotel was behind in technology or was still demonstrating old time operations.

Overall, the room was okay, the pictures make the hotel look better than it really does, and the management was kind of iffy.

Due to the Gator Bowl and the fact that I looked for hotels right before we got into Jacksonville, most of the good hotels were booked. So we found the Ramada Inn South Point. It looked decent from the pictures and at a cost of $110 + tax for the night, I figured it would be at least decent.

Boy was I wrong! This place is complete trash. From brown stained (water stains?) ceilings, to trash in the room (the remote fell behind the dresser, into a pile of trash), to bugs crawling around, it was a mess. I could not wait to get out of that room. It was so nasty that instead of sleeping under the stained bed covers, we slept fully clothed on top of all of the bed covers and just blasted the heat.

Also, the toilet didn't flush. We called up for that and 30 minutes later, some guy who looked like he was homeless walked in and plunged it. And we didn't take a shower in the morning because neither one of us were willing to set foot in that nasty tub.

As we checked out, I noted some of these things to the lady at the counter, who turned her back to us as we were talking and handed us our receipt and said "Thanks" without ever addressing or acknowledging any of the problems.

Oh, and finally, they apparently have a "club/hang out spot" for shady teens somewhere in the building. It was on a Monday night and a security guard had to chase folks out of the parking lot, repeatedly.

I've never stayed in a Super 8 or a Motel 6 or anything like that, but if it ever comes to choosing one of those versus the Ramada Inn South Point, I'll be choosing one of the others. I can't believe that Ramada would put their name and reputation on this dump!

I am not likely to return to the Ramada Inn South.
I would not recommend it to friends.
