With the exception of the indoor, pool the rooms are virtually identical to the Howard Johnson across the street in appearance, value and accommodations, but the Ramada is nearly double the price. If an indoor pool and fitness facilities are a desired feature then get a room at the Holiday Inn located a few yards down the street. You pay much higher prices for the Ramada name and do not receive any better value, service or even a nicer room then you would get at the Holiday Inn or Howard Johnson. Don't be fooled by the advertised "Recently Renovated Rooms." The Ramada's rooms are mediocre at best and comparable to an economy style hotel's rooms.

I frequently get a hotel room in the Bangor area so I can study for my finals. I recently stayed at the Bangor Ramada. I called the front desk and requested the room rate for a single adult and was quoted $89 per night. At check in I verified that the room rate was $89. I then presented a coupon for $20 off the room rate and asked if it was good for only one night or my entire stay. I was told that it was good for my entire stay and that I would pay $69 per night. At check out I noticed I had been billed $89 per night and I mentioned the coupon to the clerk. She pulled the coupon from my billing file and then I told me that the normal room rate was $109 but there was a manager's special that reduced it to $89 per night. I was told that with or without the coupon I should have been charged an $89 rate. I expressed my dissatisfaction at being quoted $69 and then later being charged $89. I was then rudely given the hand by the clerk before she turned to the customer behind me and asked how she could help them.

30 year old woman with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

We loved the pillows and the TV. We disliked the bathroom and all of its old features, the beds were uncomfortable, the main door didn't close properly, the wall coverings were awful, the bathtub had hair in it, and it was very noisy, as we were on the main level near the small crowded pool and the bar.

I booked a government rate and upon arrival, and they advised me that it didn't exist.

We were never asked about our stay, the lady behind the desk took our key and never said another word.

43 year old woman with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

I booked three rooms to take my family as well as my two sisters and their kids to the hotel. We have six kids all together and thought it would be a nice break from winter and the cold to let them go swimming.

I got to the hotel and there was a notice on the front desk that the pool was closed all day and evening for a private party. This was unacceptable. I chose this hotel because it had a pool! They have a very uncaring staff.

We went to the Holiday Inn West just down the road and we had a terrific stay. So do not trust that any amenity they offer is available to all paying guests!

When I had breakfast in the restaurant, the table was dirty and the waitress forgot to bring a side order and she did not check back. The room was great except for seating. I should have some additional seating, like a rocker or an easy chair.

I am somewhat likely to return to the Ramada Inn Bangor.
I might recommend it to friends.

The place was very nice but the bar was not the best.
