I give this hotel a Poor rating overall for my 3 night stay. I like how some posters bother posting here but give a place a 1 or a 10 because a napkin was out of place or some other BS reason. They need to take the whole experience into the review.
I give a Poor because of all the following points: 1. DO NOT stay in the Odd numbered rooms. Those rooms face I295 and Highway 100. Couple that with the poorly closing and non-sound resistant sliding window you really hear the traffic noise all night. This eliminates 50% of the rooms from the acceptable pool and is the primary reason for the poor rating 2. General dilapidation of the facilities. This is a budget hotel after-all though. 3. Location of the hotel. Very close to BWI, I295, I95 and Hwy 100 but it is located at a dead end nestled very deep in a business park. You will need a vehicle/shuttle to get anywhere as opposed to some hotels you could walk a very short distance to certain facilities. There are also no direct routes out to these major roads so you do need to navigate through the Park to get out. 4. My first room did not have a mini-fridge. Only a minor inconvenience. 5. The first room smelled like some sort of unpleasant body function, my second smells heavily of cleaning fluids. Again, this is a budget hotel so.... 6. Parking is not very well laid out and it would appear that there aren't enough spaces for all the guests as finding a spot is difficult at all times of the day. 7. The hotel advertises "data ports" in the rooms but everything is, in-fact, wireless. In general not an issue any more but something to note for those that are security minded (you should be using a VPN) or those w/o wireless networking for some reason.
Some good things. Location. Close to BWI, central to several large routes of travel and within a short car ride are many many restaurants, stores, grocery, arundel mills mall. The staff was courteous when I interacted with them. The women on the day staff had heavy accents but the job was done. They didn't treat me like I was on a silver platter but that's not what I expected either. Beds are good. Plenty of towels and sundries supplied.
Overall I *might* stay here again if I return to the area but doubtful. I specifically chose this hotel because I am in a training course in the same business park. Knowing what I now know I would be very careful when checking in though. If you are looking for 5 star service don't come to a 2 star hotel. You will surely be let down. If your room isn't to your liking go ask to be moved. If they don't move you check out and don't pay or contest with your Credit Card company if the manager doesn't facilitate your request. People need to get realistic about their expectations and how to overcome obstacles.
