Okay
This is a no frills but good hotel. You can get a great rate but you will pay for any extras. I got a rate of $69.00 through Priceline and that was far below what the other hotels are averaging. You will be charged $10 a day for parking, $3 for...

Clean!Paid parking that I didn't know about ahead of time. The Ramada Inn in Hollywood met our expectations in every way. It was clean and as a parent traveling with two young children I felt very safe. I wish that I had known that I'd have to pay...

37 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
First of all, I am a big traveler and am on the road at least once a month, both in the USA and in Europe. Recently I've stayed at hotels in San Francisco, Palo Alto, London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt (a Ramada), Lisbon, and Milan.
A couple of months ago I stayed at this hotel, the Ramada "Hollywood Hotel" on Vermont St. in Los Angeles, and I am here to warn you about this hotel. This was, by far, the worst hotel experience of my life.
First of all, this hotel blatantly advertises itself falsely as being "in Hollywood". In reality, it is on the outskirts of Hollywood. It's really on the edge of a neighborhood called "Little Armenia". You would think this neighborhood has an Armenian majority, by its name, but the only people around here who are Armenian anymore are the taxi and limo drivers. Currently the neighborhood is very rough and down-market, and full of low-class businesses and small Salvadoran hangouts. At night, it is downright scary. While I was staying at this Ramada for 6 days, there were major drug and crime busts not only right near the hotel, but most likely, IN the hotel itself, with police helicopters circling overhead for hours, large numbers of LAPD police cars parked right outside of the hotel with lights flashing, and all kinds of hushed conversations from the staff.
I found the desk staff of this Ramada absolutely abysmal. Even when things seem to be going perfectly, and there are no police cars outside attending to a crime, the staff act like they're on another planet from you. They seem to actively despise and resent their work, and treated me like an alien being. They did not listen to even simple requests I made, and seemed very uncomfortable serving me. With their sneering condescension (almost to a person), they treated me more like a potential criminal than a hotel guest.
First of all, there were major problems with my booking. I had booked on the Internet at one price (about $96 per night), and when I got there, they claimed that my Internet booking never happened. They refused to even acknowledge or look at my confirmation number -- the girl behind the front desk just wasn't interested. Throughout the whole encounter, she did not give me a single word of kindness or concern to acknowledge me as a human being, much less as a customer. Though I was my usual polite and smiling self, her attitude seemed to be "Who is this rich white guy, and what can I do to make him feel uncomfortable and unwelcome?" I was exhausted from a day of travel and just wanted to check in. She "pretended" (?) not to know about my online reservation, and said she had to check with her boss. She went into a back room and emerged about 3 minutes later. Needless to say, she offered me an ultimatum -- take a bigger room at a much higher rate -- $139/night.
From there, the saga got much, much, much worse, escalating into the absolute worst hotel experience of my lifetime. It's far too involved, nightmarish, and egregious to relate here, so I'll just say, AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS!!!
