Ramada now The Grand Hotel is atrocio... – Posted Oct 15, 2009

Horrible
female with a moderate budget, traveling for business

To whom it may concern:

October 5, 2009 I stayed at The Grand Hotel, 4400 Brandywine, Peoria, IL. The gentleman at the desk was very helpful at check-in. That is my only compliment for this hotel.

The elevator reeks, has holes in the door and there was popcorn on the floor, in the same place, for my entire stay.

The bathroom in my room had a dropped ceiling and all of the tiles had black mold on them. Some were broken, two were not set in correctly so there were holes in the ceiling above the shower and two other tiles kept moving periodically.

The ice machine on the third floor did not work and appeared to not have been working for a while. It smelled like an old refrigerator and was also molded. I went back to my room to call the front desk for the next closest ice machine and the phone was dead. The ice machine on the second floor did work even though there were parts missing and it too had mold.

The fitted sheet would not stay on the mattress. It came off as soon as I pulled the top sheet back and of course got worse throughout the night. I woke up suddenly at 4am itching ferociously and yes I did have a few bites on me that appeared shortly after.

With all of this I didn’t want to lie any of my items on the hotel surfaces so I hung my nightclothes on the back of the door. Unfortunately I left them there upon checkout. I realized this about 10:30pm when I was in another city. I immediately called the hotel and was transferred to housekeeping where I left a voice mail stating what I left and in what room. The next morning I heard nothing. I called and left another voice mail and did get a return call. The housekeeping supervisor told me Angie cleaned my room and was off that day. I asked her to please check the room for the items and call me back. After a couple of hours with no phone call, I called the manager Kim Fady and left voice mails every hour and finally got a return call after four voice mails. She assured me she would check into it and get back with me. Not hearing anything from Kim, I started calling and leaving more voice mails. When I finally talked to Kim again she told me the items were not on the property and when Angie returned she would personally ask her about them and they would call me together. The next morning, I had heard nothing by 11am so I called and once again had to leave several voice mails before getting a response. Friday morning Shirley, in housekeeping, and Angie called me. They were very rude and abrupt and told me I probably left the items somewhere else. After talking to them, I called and left a couple of more voice mails for Kim. On October 13th I finally spoke with Kim. As always, she started the conversation off with “I was getting ready to call you back”. Shirley and Angie told Kim I was checking other places for my items. After I told Kim this was not true, I told her the conversation from Friday morning as close as I could remember it. She at the point told me she was not legally liable and the owner would not approve payment for my items. I realize hotels are not legally liable and I am at fault for leaving my items, however the more I pursued this the more I felt wronged and at this point it’s the principle of the entire situation. What Kim didn’t realize is I had searched the owners of the hotel and Fady and Fady Hospitality, Nick and Bill Fady own it.

The items I left at the hotel are a Lucky Brand zip up sweatshirt (brown with rust and off white daisy like flowers with the words Lucky Brand on the front), a pair of turquoise plaid Old Navy brand night pants and a pink tank top.

I came to visit my family and had such a great time I hated to leave. We used the pool, the huge atrium on a rainy day for a small picnic and overall had a great time. Now don't get me wrong, the hotel is somewhat dated but it's clean, comfortable,

I stayed at the Ramada in Peoria in April 2008 on business. I enjoyed my stay very much and would recommend the hotel to any business traveler looking for a comfortable place to stay at a decent price. My room was clean, the staff was very friendly, and the complimentary hot breakfast buffet was more than I expected. I also enjoyed using the enclosed comfortable glass atrium as a place to meet with colleagues and utilize the complimentary wireless internet service. The restaurant also served a great steak at a good price. I was an overall very satisfied business guest.

Worst hotel I've ever stayed in – Posted Oct 29, 2007

Horrible
67 year old female with a luxury budget

This hotel had a very musty odor throughout. There was mold in the waste can. The bathroom spigot was very difficult to turn on, you needed to use two hands. The floors were not very clean. There were smoking and non-smoking rooms mixed together. The smoke odor came in through the vents and under the door. When I complained, they said I could move, but it probably wouldn't be any different.

The quality of this hotel is definitely improving from the rooms to the new menu in the restaurant. I have stayed here a few times in the past few months, each time it seems that the new ownership are doing a great job of making improvements. I was especially impressed with the quality of food and service in the restaurant. i recently had one of the best ribeye steaks I have ever eaten. will stay again and would recommend to friends.

Wow, was this hotel nice. Everything you could need is inside. It was familiar, it kind of feels like it used to be a Holiday Inn Holidome because if you have an interior view, you can check out everything going on in the hotel, so you can choose...

Mediocre
22 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for business

The room they gave me was evidently used or the maid had not cleaned it. They did not give me a new alternate room, they just gave me new bed sheets and told me to clean it myself.

I am somewhat likely to return to the Ramada and Conference Center.
I would not recommend it to friends.
