Radisson Martinique on Broadway Hotel

I can honestly say in the past 13 years I have been traveling at least twice a month and have NEVER BEEN SO THOROUGHLY DISGUSTED by every aspect of this hotel.

I was visiting with family and booked 2 separate rooms for 2 nights. We arrived and were told that we were only booked for one room and that there was nothing they could do. There is no way we would have booked one room for 5 people...

They proceeded to call me a "liar" AND I QUOTE!!! We ended up speaking to almost every level of management in the hotel until they finally told us they would not let us stay there at all, let alone our entire family. We left and found on our statement a $657.00 charge to my credit card when we DIDN'T EVEN STAY IN THE HOTEL!! Still working on that, so far they have been no help and I have not received a credit.. WILL NEVER STAY AT ANOTHER RADISSON AGAIN!!!

I picked this hotel b/c of the book Rachel & Her Children. It's the story of 1980's (pre-Guiliani) NYC, the Martinique was a home for the indigent. The book gives a vibrant description of the hotel that once was, and now that it has changed back to a hotel, it is near its former glory.

I recommend the hotel for its comfort and location. I also recommend the book as an eye-opener.

Walk to Times Square, 5th Ave & all its shopping, FANTASTIC location.

The rooms are very small even to NY standards and watch for undisclosed daily charge to use hotel safe of $5 per day. Business travelers beware if you are shipping supplies to this hotel as box went missing for two days. Location is close to Macys but walking on 32nd between Broadway and Fifth Avenue at night is disconcerning. The doorman and bellmen are delightful but front office personnel are not friendly or empowered to handle complaints. Every day bathroom supplies went unreplenished from tissue and bath soap to towels and shampoo.

I stayed there in November 2006, the room was very small, but OK for a single person. The furniture and TV was new and all in good order. It was very quiet, I had great sleep. It's very clean. They had free wireless internet. It's definitely a good value for a business traveler.

The hotel was very centrally located and for the most part, everyone was helpful. I think the girl checking in my son must have been new, and she had many problems. We did finally get it all straightened out, but my son became very frustrated.

I did not care much for the location, but I had to stay there because of a wedding and that was the hotel where everyone stayed. The personnel was friendly and helpful.
