27 year old with a luxury budget, traveling for business
Stayed here for a week in February of 2007. It was really snowy, as is generally the case in Grand Rapids during the winter. This place however made the snow seem to melt away.
The lobby is a rustic and old fashioned area, very wide open, with a giant fireplace, and beautiful decor. Check in is simple and hassle free. The Elevator up to the rooms is kind of slow. When we arrived, my co-worker got placed into a room where the heat had been on over 80 degrees for about a week, but they quickly placed him in another room.
The bar and restaurant here is a highlight. The food and drink selection is fantastic, and the atmosphere very relaxing. To top it off, there's a fantastic view of the Grand River right outside the windows, made even better when it sparkles from the moonlight. Karaoke on Thursday nights!
Rooms are a bit small, but there's alot to them. Very cozy, with 27 inch televisions, and large desks with comfortable chairs. The parking lot is free, but it's a bit small, so you may need to drive around for a bit if the hotel is crowded. But that won't ruin the experience.
Overall a clean, comfortable hotel with a charming bar and restaurant. Grand Rapids is a nice city, probably my favorite city to work in, and this hotel just makes it better.
